HD's Score Prediction for UNC

Bugs me when people say stuff like: "It was that early loss to the Hokies that eventually determined Georgia Tech’s fate" in the Coastal race. What? That was the first of three games we lost that, had we won, we'd have won the Coastal outright. How was that game any more or a determining factor than the UVA or Miami game? This is similar to the old, "As it turns out, that touchdown in the second quarter was the difference in this 48-47 game."

I will concede this and I will try to abide by this rule in the future: If there's a GTKyle post in the football forum that bugs me, I should either keep it to myself or deal with it in the Off-Topic forum as a courtesy to people who want to read the football forum without reading my thoughts about Kyle. Fair enough?

No, just wait until everybody starts bashing him again in 3....2....1....

HD is an idiot. We are going to destroy UNC Saturday. PJ hates losing as do our players.

While UNC’s offense seemed to have turned the corner in Saturday’s win over ECU

Can something like that "turn the corner" (another cliche phrase that needs to go) against a team that people schedule so that they can have easier schedules?

Not saying their offense can't score on us, but I'm also not convinced they've played a good defense yet.

Also, I find it humorous that right after their "convincing" win over us they go and lose to Maryland and get blown out by NC St.

Not really, why cherry pick the last three knowing that it hurts our numbers?

Why not pick the last five?

161-136.

Why any random arbitrary number? Hell I'm sure if I sugar coated my 'time frame' to include the Duke and MSU game we'd have much better numbers. My point is that you can't hand pick time frame's and discard things to try and make your point.

Which I'm not even sure what your point is? That because we looked bad in the bowl game and the Miami game, and let Clemson creep back on us that we suck somehow? Because I'm pretty sure the LSU game was last year. I'm also pretty sure that we beat clemson. So in your 'argument' we looked bad against Miami. Which everyone already knows. Your 'argument' has very little bearing on how we will do against UNC in my opinion.

You're right. We're playing great. My bad.

Most people would consider performance against 3 consecutive (not "cherry picked") opponents to be a trend, that's all. I'm not saying the sky is falling or that we have no chance Saturday (I expect to win). My only point is that based on our recent TREND we should not be surprised when people pick us to lose to ranked opponents. Remember - that was the subject of this thread.

That was my only point. It would have helped had you actually read my whole post before commenting.

I love how she says that after beating BC @ BC we came home and lost to VT when we clearly played that game in Blacksburg. Way to botch a really complex analysis like 'where the game was played.'

Kind of a moot point, but the issue is the tie-breaker.

If we had lost a different ACC game then we go to the title game. But if we won one of the two we lost then it's not an issue.

So, it is more similar to, "As it turns out, that missed extra point in the second quarter was the difference in this 48-47 game." And that is true; even though they may have also had multiple opportunities to make the missed extra point irrelevant.

CFN is picking against us as well, not based on last year but this year. UNC's defense this year is part of the reason.

Need to turn it around, but as several have posted it should not be a surprise outsiders are picking against us.

What will happen: Something is wrong at Georgia Tech, and it doesn’t appear to be going away. It’s played very poorly over the last six quarters, all against ACC opponents. This is a tall order on the road for such a youthful Carolina team, but it’ll ride the backs of the defense and RB Shaun Draughn to a critical upset win. The Heels will stack the box, daring Nesbitt to complete passes, keeping Paul Johnson’s offense on the ropes.
CFN Prediction: North Carolina 23 … Georgia Tech 20 ...

Josey says:

Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.

I never said great. I think we are playing good, and I think we've played some TOUGH teams.

You cherry picked the timeline and the opponents. You even said so. "the last 3 D-1 opponents". Why did you want to ignore the D-1AA school? Because we won by a significant margin? Throwing your numbers more askew? Why didn't you want to say the last '5 D-1 opponents'? And I'm not surprised that people are picking us to lose against UNC. But my point is that they are not doing it because of anything that happened last season. They are picking UNC because they have looked better than us this season. Plain and simple. Not some stat that only the message board fans of the schools would point out.

That was my only point. It would have helped had you actually read my whole post before commenting.

I must have cherry picked the comment where you throw a stat out there to try and show negativity to what our team is doing....so far as to even ignore a very good quarter to do so.

"Come on guys! This is bullcrap! Don't get me wrong, I LOOOOVE the ladies, they rev my engine, but they don't belong in a sports news room."

I must have missed something...what 48 to 47 game

I'm not convinced that UNC will be able to move the football. Hopefully I'm right. Hopefully our pass defense looks more like a D-1 secondary and less like a bunch of retards humping doorknobs.

As for Dinich's prediction, I can't fault her, although I think our offensive line does a fine job shutting itself down without a defense's help.

Remember what Paul says - Good teams don't lose two in a row.

OK, seriously dude...there's no reason for that.

And furthermore, why do you continue to blame it all on the Secondary? Again, they're are "fantastic or awesome or Top Tier" but it's not all on them or really even close to them being the majority of the problem

It's our D Line. Not the Secondary. Why can't you seem to grasp that? When you get NO PUSH on the DLine then you leave your secondary on their own island....bottom line, poor DL play makes the secondary look like scrubs. Apparently you are grasping that concept

I'm just curious, please enlighten me!!!!!
