After the shots Josh took in this game - he deserved to say and/or do whatever he wanted to draw the penalty after his 2nd TD rush.

Welcome to the acc. This has been going on for years.
Never forget that USC got out of the ACC because of officiating--and we took their place--in more ways than one.
There was a play where Nesbitt got stuffed-forward progress lost...no whistle. Then he was shoved five yards back further and two more UNC players on the tackle....no whistle. Then pushed another few yards...no whistle. And of course Nesbitt slammed to the turf and appears shaken on the tackle....ref blows the whistle.
Do your job and at the minimum protect the QB. Damn.
Penalty on a no block in the back call.
"No foul on the play"
Several holds not called.
Facemask on AA not called.
Offsetting penalties - On #79 white...uh excuse me #71 white...and um ...
Suffer from alzheimer's much?
Compare that delayed whistle to the incredibly quick whistle that had to be blown to even try to say the WR didn't get out of bounds before half time. The speed of saying forward progress stopped on that call was just ludicrous. Especially when they were letting Josh get killed in the grasp of defenders.
No flag on this play :wow:

I don't think they ever said that. Even if he did get stopped on forward progress, the clock should have stopped until the ball was set ready to play because it was a first down. It was just inexplicable.

I can hear Swofford now "well they did get rid of the incidental face mask penalty."
With PJ screaming at him form 5 yards away. All he had to do was blow his whistle and then PJ could call for a check to reset the clock.
But. he. never. blew. his. whistle!!!
Amazing.
...If that guy would have been refereeing a pee-wee game he would have gotten his ass kicked by an irate parent.
Bingo. Refs make mistakes. Any reasonable fan knows and understands this, but this was a very correctable mistake. You see refs halt the game all the time to tell the clock keepers to reset the clock. That's all they had to do and they simply refused. I would hope some sort of reprimand is coming for this.
not that this makes any difference but they didnt stop the clock near the end of the game when UNC caught a ball for a first down and went out of bounds.
I was thinking the same thing during this game.
How about the time the refs spotted the ball a whole yard too far for us. Davis questioned it and they spotted it back TWO yards before moving it back a yard.
I have never ever seen anything like the clock running after going out of bounds AND after getting the first down.
GD ACC REFS!!!! ECU player gets blocked into the unc qb -- and they call roughing the passer on ecu. Clearly visible on replay. Gave them a first down, rather than a 3rd and 12. ECU would have only been down by 10 rather than 14.
I HATE ACC REFS!!!!
Edit: Of course, it is the idiot Ron Cherry who is running that crew.
