Officiating

After the shots Josh took in this game - he deserved to say and/or do whatever he wanted to draw the penalty after his 2nd TD rush.
 
Welcome to the acc. This has been going on for years.

Never forget that USC got out of the ACC because of officiating--and we took their place--in more ways than one.

I was thinking the same thing during this game.

How about the time the refs spotted the ball a whole yard too far for us. Davis questioned it and they spotted it back TWO yards before moving it back a yard.

I have never ever seen anything like the clock running after going out of bounds AND after getting the first down.

Compare that delayed whistle to the incredibly quick whistle that had to be blown to even try to say the WR didn't get out of bounds before half time. The speed of saying forward progress stopped on that call was just ludicrous. Especially when they were letting Josh get killed in the grasp of defenders.

I don't think they ever said that. Even if he did get stopped on forward progress, the clock should have stopped until the ball was set ready to play because it was a first down. It was just inexplicable.

I fully agree the clock should have stopped either way. But my understanding was that the call was that forward momentum was stopped in bounds and that was why the ump didn't stop the clock. Then the geniuses forgot that the clock stops anyway on a first down.

With PJ screaming at him form 5 yards away. All he had to do was blow his whistle and then PJ could call for a check to reset the clock.

But. he. never. blew. his. whistle!!!

Amazing.
 
I believe that Wes mentioned that the head of ACC officiating was at the game...I wonder if we will hear anything later this week about what was one of the most poorly officiated games in recent memory....doubt it. I know the line judge on the our side of the field blew multiple calls. Remember the block in the back call on the punt...If that guy would have been refereeing a pee-wee game he would have gotten his ass kicked by an irate parent.

Bingo. Refs make mistakes. Any reasonable fan knows and understands this, but this was a very correctable mistake. You see refs halt the game all the time to tell the clock keepers to reset the clock.That's all they had to do and they simply refused. I would hope some sort of reprimand is coming for this.

Exactamundo. PJ is telling him he's screwing up and he's simply ignoring him.
 
not that this makes any difference but they didnt stop the clock near the end of the game when UNC caught a ball for a first down and went out of bounds.

And had it been a one possession game, you can bet Butch Davis would have been all over them. Somehow I doubt they would ignore him if the game (and their jobs) was on the line.
 
I have to say Swofford is the sorriest manager on the face of the earth. First the foul call on Jarret Jack's balls and now this. Swofford is the sole reason for this chicken-**** operation we call the ACC. The head of officiating is likely his old buddy, who then hires his old buddies to be the actual officials.

We're not alone in criticizing ACC refs. Other conferences play us and are amazed by their incompetence. I look at other officiating crews, SEC, whoever, and don't see near the same level of clock mismanagment, blowing calls, and conferences that go on forever to decide the smallest things. Swofford should have been fired long ago and never should have had the job in the first place.
 
Swofford is a tool of the Tobacco Road Mafia. He has his marching orders. There is no way a conference of our stature should have to endure this level of officaiting.

That official just refused to hear PJ, and what's worse, any official on the field could have called signaled a stop clock, expecially the Referee. But NOT ONE of them did anything about it.

It was purely the worst I've ever seen from these tools. It was worse than the FG call that got reversed 2 years ago - a freaking Field Goal!

This crap always seems to happen the worst when we play UNC or NCSU in football, or UNC or Dook in basketball. WFU never seems to get these calls going their way.

oh yeah, Swofford on hold, he is trying to be apologetic but i aint havin it. i told him "resign or pay the price," he said he didnt have the money but i told him im talking a whole different kind of skin

he tried to give me four tickets to the ACC championship game and ride on a private jet, but i asked if ACC refs would be working the game and he realized he just stepped in it AGAIN. when i told him i was taking a boat to that game, he said "damn, you cant be stopped"

thats when i pointed out that his head is so far up his ass he could be his own proctologist

damn, hold on... ok, he was saying he had to go, CPJ was beeping in, so i let him go

but he's gonna call me back to sweeten the deal, anyone need ACC hoops tournament tix? b/c im gonna get mine paid for by this mf!

You want to know why ACC football is considered a joke by many around the country (besides the final score)?

It is swofford and his idiot refs. Does anyone doubt there is any truth to the statement that you just don't have to beat duke and unc but the refs also?

This is beyond incompetence. They are officiating the game outside of the rules. LIKE THEY HAVE FOREVER WHEN A TEAM PLAYS duke or unc.

I don't know if they are under orders, are totally assholes, are getting BJs from swofford or what.

But they help make the ACC a joke.

I don't know if the road team still has their refs to call a game, but I pray we don't see this b.s. in Starkeville. Or maybe it would be best if scumbags like those guys today don't get out of a stadium with their ass intact.

And if that scumbag swofford ever forces GT to play 3 games in 12 days again we need to very seriously get the other schools in the ACC (except unc and duke) along with WVU, USF and some others to form a new conference.

That f^$k swofford is cheating against S/As not at duke or unc.

Good example of bad reffing occurred last week as well.
