Goal Post

Hey **** you. You can celebrate all you want. I'll be there until the Horse.

I'm talking about ripping the goalposts down. I just don't think its appropriate to do after beating a division opponent who we have beaten in the last few years and is only ranked 15 spots ahead of us.

Also, I think there is a distinct difference between students running onto the field and carrying the goalposts out the stadium. Maybe that's just me.

If GT was 50th, and VT was 35th, that might be true.

They're 19 and 4 though

Why would we rush the field? If you consider this a huge upset win for us that should not happen, then sure it's appropriate. If you think this is a game we should win, it's dumb.

I think if we want to be considered a top tier team these are the games we should win and we as fans should expect it.

Beating a top five VT... maybe.
Beating a unranked, .500 UGA squad.... maybe not.

Hey **** you.
:laugher: Wow.

:laugher::laugher::laugher:

I'm talking about ripping down the goalposts as well. Do you realize how absurd you sound? We've beaten them ONCE since they came here. And it's not "only" being ranked 15 spots ahead of us. You're missing the point entirely. We're beating a team that's ranked #4 (Which is infinitely more important than how many spots ahead of us they're ranked) who also happens to be a big division rival, a team that has given us trouble since they joined the conference and this is a game that could serve to be a springboard into big things for this program.

This is the type of situation in which ripping down the goalposts is appropriate. It likely won't matter because security won't allow it - but the point remains.

The GTAA is worried about money to replace the goalposts and the safety of the players/coaches/staff on the field. Those goalposts aren't cheap to replace.

In the grand scheme of things they really aren't that expensive. Not that I'm arguing for the goalposts to come down, and thats certainly putting the cart way the hell before the horse anyways, but we've had former presidents tell everyone cutting up goalposts in his front yard that he'd be happy to replace them "twice a year for wins like that".

Regardless, if you rush the field don't be a dumbass and look out for the people around you.

After a full day of drinking on campus..... you are asking a lot. :)

If you're still drunk after 4 quarters of yelling, you've had a lot more than me (even counting the liquid refreshment brought in with us) :)

ND was much bigger. You can't get bigger than ND except playing U[sic]GA to get into the national title game. That was the perfect storm of a summer's worth of hype, college gameday, the Notre Dame name, and the #2 ranking for Notre Dame. Not to mention us being unranked but knowing we had the talent to hang with them.
phew...lucky we didn't win...we'd still have gailey.

as far as goal posts....i think the GTAA will decide to let them go or put up a stand.

but, i think they would take a win over a #4 team, having the goalposts torn down and paying for replacement over suffering another loss anyday...

the win itself will pay for the goalposts in national perception which leads to merchandise sales and the ability to play in the ACCCG and a BCS bowl. which would set us up well for the future.

i'm sure they're thinking......

just win.

should we act like we have been there before? can't really answer that one but let the students have some fun if they want. i'm indifferent if they go down or stay up.

If we blowout VT then taking the goalposts would be very anti-climatic. If we win with a TD pass to Thomas from our 30 as the final seconds run down from the clock then f*** the security guards, I'M GETTIN THE F***** GOAL POST!!!

It's just you.

They shouldn't be worried about us tearing down the golaposts. They should be worried about us throwing one over the side of the stadium. Again. Ask the Auburn band what it feels like to see that coming at you.

You beat a top 5 team, you can take down the goal posts. No questions asked.

+ 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000........and 1

Doesn't +1 mean that you, one person, are agreeing with the quoted post? Do you really speak for 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 people?

Yes. And it will be the first REAL rushing of the field in a while. The FSU one was a joke.

Tear them the **** down

But I respectfully ask we quit plannin it.... I'm superstitious and don't wanna jinx.

That's the reason I've been wearin White since the White Out. (I usually buy a new official Old Gold every year)
