Hey Jacket fans, I've been perusing your board this week, and I just want to set the record straight on something.

Some of y'all have made some assumptions about what our fans are thinking based on what you've read on the msg board on techsideline.com. eg: Hokie fans everywhere are expecting us to roll up Georgia Tech and smoke'em.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to, and a vast majority of the people on the subscriber board on techsideline (a much saner msg board), are not taking Saturday's game lightly. I think the general consensus among us is that we should win, but we know that anything can happen on any given Saturday in college football. That's why we play the games. We recognize that your offense is a much different (improved) beast than it was last year.

At any rate, it should be a fun one.

Why do you have a Georgia Tech handle if you cheer for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University?

He made it "GoTech" so that he could get access, because Virginia Tech fans haven't been getting access to this forum.

It's fine by me, because it's nice to see a sensible Hokie fan for once this week. It's a shame that guys like him are buried in the sea of the guys that invent their own truths to create a scenario in which our fanbase is being cocky and claiming our defense is a monster.

VT should win this game. You are correct. So VT has a LOT to lose if you go down in this one.

I hope the game is clean with no unnecessary helmet-to-helmet calls and no injuries.

Until someone else besides VT regularly wins the conference championship, then we're just like the SEC, PAC-10, or Big 10. A one team conference with everyone else fighting for second place.

The competition's definitely stiffening, but until Tech & the U can knock off VT with any consistency then I can understand your confidence.

If we don't keep a leash on Tyrod & figure out how to stop VT's running game, then we're sunk.

I'm airborne in 6 hours & definitely looking forward to watching the challenge Sat night.

This is going to be a great game for both parties. It will be hard fought by both teams, and the team that fights harder will be the last one standing!

in Virginia, if you say Tech, they mean Virginia Tech
in Georgia, if you say Tech, we mean Georgia Tech

In California when you say Poly, they mean Cal Polytechnic.
In Georgia when you say Poly, they mean Southern Polytechnic.
In Virginia when you say Poly,.............

I am doing what Czar mentioned, which is making fun of VPISU fans because they go by 'tech' as opposed to 'poly' or something else. :)

It's game week people, one nice fan comes over and you feel no need to rag on VPI anymore?

And he does have a Georgia Tech handle. VPI is a polytechnical state university. There is one, and only on, Tech. It is located in midtown Atlanta. Not in the middle a Virginia cow pasture.

Thanks for the civil talk, I know you guys catch just as much s*** from our crappy fans as we do from VT's crappy fans. I'm not fond of Vatech too much, but honestly it's because they are a hurdle GT has to get past in order to reach the national recognition that I want my alma mater's football team to achieve. Win or lose, here's to a great game on Saturday, hopefully free of injuries or controversies.

God I can't wait!!!
 
Gotech79, I apologize for the tasteless Beamer insults some of us have been shamelessly tossing around (if you haven't seen them, then sorry for bringing them to the fore). It's one thing to talk trash about a team's performance, mascot, history, et al., but talking trash about someone's physical deformities is just low, imo.
