I come in peace ...

I went to TECH (GT), but personally don't see what the big deal is with Virginia PolyTECHnical Institute shortening their name to Virginia TECH. (Maybe it's because I'm not an engineer)

You obviously didn't just sign up on this board. You're a Virginia Tech fan but have been a member here since 2005?

Hey Jacket fans, I've been perusing your board this week, and I just want to set the record straight on something.

Some of y'all have made some assumptions about what our fans are thinking based on what you've read on the msg board on techsideline.com. eg: Hokie fans everywhere are expecting us to roll up Georgia Tech and smoke'em.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to, and a vast majority of the people on the subscriber board on techsideline (a much saner msg board), are not taking Saturday's game lightly. I think the general consensus among us is that we should win, but we know that anything can happen on any given Saturday in college football. That's why we play the games. We recognize that your offense is a much different (improved) beast than it was last year.

At any rate, it should be a fun one.

It's always good to see an tinted-glasses-off point of view from the other side. I think that all things considered, this game may be a bigger win to Georgia Tech than a win over Georgia. It's sure to be a great game if both sides play their all.

Tinted glasses back on, Go Jackets!

2005 was another home game vs VT... we must have been smack-talking it up back then too ;)

pol⋅y⋅tech⋅nic [pol-ee-tek-nik]
–adjective
1. of, pertaining to, or offering instruction in a variety of industrial arts, applied sciences, or technical subjects: a polytechnic institute.
–noun
2. a school or other institution in which instruction in technical subjects is given.

I think you're just bitter because you want to be the only engineering school in the ACC. ;)

dude, Apparel, Housing and Resource Management (residential property management) is a joke and not real Technical.

I'm not saying he's not...and i'm not saying he's here to be an ass either. Just found it weird he's a VPI fan but has been here four years.

It's almost unheard of in this forum since we have such a large number of witch-hunters here, but I've seen opposing fans establish a friendly presence in other boards.

Actually 2005 was in Blacksburg, and it's a game I would rather like to forget. They blocked a FG attempt and ran it back for a TD: end game.:puke:

gotech79, its nothing personal. We're just better than you. Maybe not Saturday when I would prefer to be better than you, but on an everyday walking around thing, we're just better than you.

Actually, kidding aside.. well it really wasn't kidding. The two times I've been to Blacksburg was a lot of fun. Fans for the most part around the tailgate were good people. Ignorant about Georgia Tech, but nice nonetheless.

The only real thing I couldn't stand about VT's fanbase is that they actually were clueless about Georgia Tech. they thought we were some scrub program and that the history of football started around 1989. They were completely unaware of the fact that we have 4 national championships spanning every major era of college football as well as a deep history of the finest coaches ever to coach in college including the likes of Heisman, Alexander, Bobby Dodd, and Bobby Ross. When I informed a couple of fans of this, the ignorant ones said and I quote:

"Yeah right... did you just make all of that up?"

So while I had fun at VT, I came away with this conclusion.... your fans are more ignorant than any fanbase I've been around.

We already are. That's not elitism or bravado. That's the truth of the matter. VPI&SU may have a school of engineering, but the Georgia Institute of Technology is the only engineering school in the ACC. Period.
