Who's the most overrated GT football player of all-time?

Eric Henderson.

I remember at the time thinking he was a great DE...but looking back I think that any of the four who replaced that Line was 10x better.
That is a fantastic choice. Perfect, even. He was good enough to exceed expectations, but not good enough to justify GT fans lofty praise.

Great call.

It's hard to define "overrated" and "underrated" in terms of a player's entire career. It is possible for a player to be overrated at times and underrated at times. For example, in my opinion Reggie Ball was overrated as a frosh and is now generally underrated by the fan base. Joe Hamilton was probably underrated by many when he was a fr-soph and one could argue that he is overrated generally today. And of course people won't agree on which players are overrated and underrated; if everyone agreed that a player was overrated, he wouldn't be overrated, now would he? Questions like this are just discussion questions; no reason to argue about what the words really mean or tell someone their definition is out of whack. It's a vague question to begin with. For example, the question doesn't even specify *by whom* a player is under- or overrated. Fans back then? Fans today? Recruiting services? NFL scouts? Fans of other teams? The media?
This is absolutely, 100% a total feel thing. Nothing more. Like you said, a discussion starter.

And it's from the fans perspective, btw.

I think PJ Daniels is overrated. I loved the guy to death when he wore the white and gold, but I think he fits the bill.

we've had so many RBs that were "great", yet maybe it was our system

my favorite was Charlie Rogers, dude was a player

I definitely agree with this choice. I still can't believe he was actually drafted.

Charles Dudish

You children are all too young. He was the number one HS QB in the country in the late 60's. Great all-around athlete who never did much.
My pick also--I remember how excited I was that he picked us over Ugag and I had HIGH expectations for his Tech career--but--he never gave a glimpse of his HS cred's and eventually had some doping allegations. He eventually left the team and I've never heard his name since--til now. Man, that memory still "stings". :o

If he never did much then he was an overrated recruit, not player.

The fact that most of us don't know his name tells me he wasn't overrated.

Dudish played. He was talented. He just didn't perform. Another one was Stan Gann.

I like the guy, but he didn't pan out with the Redskins like we loved him at Tech

This is a little obscure but Rodney Williams, maybe?

There were always rumors that he was such a great athlete that he'd get a chance to play WR.

He was a funny guy though.

How was he overrated? He began his career as a walk-on and the 7th or 8th guy on the depth chart. We worked his way up to starter by default almost, but he flourished once he got there. If PJ is overrated, then the same could be said for a guy like Sean Gregory.

+1. He hit the hole hard but I seldom remember him taking it to the house, making someone miss, or running over someone.
