Western Carolina football

sounds like pick 6s to me

I am tempted to bet on the spread for Tech.

I think we will pound them up the middle alot in the first half and run the clock down. 5 long TD scoring drives and a pick 6. 42-0 at half. Second team and third team does the same thing, long scoring drives. I think we drop 63. I don't see WCU scoring.

I took his comment to mean that the top D2 schools are better than the average FCS schools. Not sure how true that is since I don't watch D2 or FCS, though.

thats more like what I was saying...the top D2 schools are better than the middle tier FCS schools..and IMHO the top couple d2 schools could probably hang in any FCS conference-UNA or Grand Valley State for instance...

reasoning? basically transfer rules.....D1 talent that isn't getting the PT or has gotten into some trouble for whatever reason--usually transfers D2-so that they don't have to sit out a year

take North Alabama for instance....
they have players from::
4 from Florida state, 2 from UGA, South Florida, Arizona state, 3 from Alabama, Navy, Florida, Troy, Nc state, Texas....and then a number of Juco transfers and smaller school transfers

Valdosta state has transfers from
Oklahoma, Iowa State, Vandy and Army--they should finish around 15.....when I was there and we were winning national championships we had transfers from Kentucky, Ga Tech, FSU, Temple, Tulane, Georgia, LSU, FSU...

WCU is pretty terrible from top to bottom, they are fighting with Citadel to be the worst of the SoCon.

I agree. I can't recall at any time where WCU was a front runner in the SoCon, even for a season. Not worried about them. Not worried that CPJ graduated from there either. He also graduated from App. St., but GSU crushed them a time or 2 under his reign. IMO, I do believe that Southern can hang with most FBS teams. They lose FBS games because they play ranked teams, not some weak FBS team. As for James Madison, that was a fluke. JMU isn't that good, or at least not last year. If I remember right, they didn't finish the season ranked or even make the playoffs after beating VPI.

uhhh-----James Madison was okay last year...

all the games they lost last year were against FCS schools with rich history...
UMASS, Delaware, and OT loss at Richmond..........Villanova was really good last year

Sounds like someone doesn't know the transfer rules.

if you go from fbs to fcs you have to apply for an exception............

most of it has anything to do if you've ever played or practiced.....reasons for transferring....

you can go straight to d2 and play right away.......going to fcs is different.......

youre right though, Im not exactly sure about the fine print--however I do know that the 4 years I was at Valdosta we would have beaten the shit out of your little Georgia Southern--that was a pretty well known fact. You can defend them to the end- I really don't care. I chose VSU over GSU for more than just football.

No. It's not. If you transfer from FBS to FCS, you don't have to sit out a year.

Period. Everyone knows this.

I don't know squat about transfer rules.

What I want to know is why the idiots in charge had to use FBS and FCS instead of sticking with Div I, Div II, etc.?

That makes about as much sense as the Legends and Lizards...er, Leaders division names for Big Integer.:dunno:

FBS used to be referred to a Div 1-A and FCS as Div 1-AA. The other divisions did not have other subdivisions so they just remained the same. I guess the guys in charge thought it would be easier to tell between the two top divisions by naming them by how they operate their post seasons.

How is that easier that I/II?

How many god damn times are we going to have this mother ööööing terminological debate about the divisions of college football?

A. Division I
:
1. Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly Division I-A
2. Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), formerly Division I-AA
Please note: all FBS and FCS teams are subsumed under Division I, so it is incorrect to call FCS teams like Georgia Southern "Division II". This is why people like paintballer get pissed off when people call GSU "D-II" or whatever.
B. Division II
C. Division III

5 years after the change of terminology and a lot of you ööööers still either are too lazy or too stupid to get it right. GEHJ, go and make a flow-chart or something. öööö.

FLOW CHART:

FBS or FCS >>>flowflowflowflow>> Division I

Any other school >>>flowflowflowflowflow>>> who gives a öööö?

FCS come to think of it >>>>> flowflowflowflow >>> who gives a öööö >>>>flowflowflow>>>> dudes who like paintball

Talk about a half-ass effort.

I see Georgia Southern plays a D2 team this year...funny because it's the d2 team that started the whole convo.......

Money that Tusculum covers any spread you give me.

I bet this game was a lot more exciting to Cyptom than to the rest of us. Imagine still being on edge when it was 56-21.

And btw: Is this the largest point spread Tech has ever covered??

I think Vegas had Tech +119.5 over Cumberland
