Georgia State debacle

It's that loose after all these years, huh?

I wonder if anyone has access to the studies that encouraged Georgia State to start a football program. I am certain those folks are currently in "cover my ass" mode and deny responsibility for that mess. Typical government worker think. It wasn't their money to lose and somebody really liked football so they went ahead and painted a rosy pic of a filled Georgia Dome for Georgia State football. I suppose they looked at State having 30k or so students (I'm guessing) and figured they would easily sell that many to games if students and a healthy portion of alums attended. Unfortunately, most Ga State alums did not attend because of any festering interest in sports. It is a commuter school at heart without a clearly defined campus structure.

Kennesaw will be successful as long as they stay in the lower divisions.

In the first half....

Dang it, beat me to it.

I agree with the earlier post that Kennesaw is better set up for success, and they could be a decent FCS program in a few years. I don't see them catching lightning in a bottle the way Southern did in the early years. And I don't see any reason why Georgia State continues to pursue this folly. Don Quixote had a better chance against the windmills than Georgia State does of ever having relevance as a football program.

Their fight song can't be the problem...

Their voices yell after all.

GAST fans think GASO fans are jealous.

Which probably makes them the most unintentionally hilarious people on the planet.

Even their fight song admits defeat. Their aspiration is to be "in the fight" and to "give them hell". Nothing about winning or success.

Compare that to GT's fight song, which not only mentions that GT will beat Georgia, but that GT will literally murder Georgia by dropping a battle axe on their heads.

The original refrain was going to mention athletic fees, but it was nixed.

They've also said on that board the GAST's program has hurt GT's program, and that either GAST or GASU will be the successor to #2 in the state for football.

So I wouldn't take anything they say too seriously.

Maybe it even helped GT's program by showing Georgia kids up close how bad things can be. Our recruiting does seem to be a bit better this year...
