TigerNet is abuzz with this, they think he's gone. Most hilarious part is they're "fine with it", as if they have anything else going.

Would be great timing to get them distracted against USCe...
 
That doesn't make sense to me... He's a legit D1 coach and shouldn't have to do that. Unless he's just looking to get back to Texas....

My thoughts too, but google it. Looks like it's happening. I guess since he's from Texas, he may have some affiliation or interest in SMU and want to rebuild it?
 
for years everyone was saying VT's foster was going here or there and now he looks like he is going to be canned right along with beamer

If you are a coordinator you are JUST a coordinator when you look at Malzhan at Auburn he left to be HC at lil school then got the big job
 
Getting his foot in the HC door. Turn that around and after a couple of years get snapped up by somebody bigger. Not a bad strategy. Unless you don't turn it around.
 
SMU will also pay him a lot of money. If this is true, Dabo better find a great OC quickly or he isn't gonna be around at Clemson for too long.
 
That would be a big blow to them, but I imagine they have enough $ to go out and get somebody good. Hopefully this wastes a year or two of Watson though during the transition.
 
Who wouldn't want the Clemson OC job? You get 2-3 years of Deshaun Watson surrounded by a lot of other good talent as well.
 
Also, for everyone who thinks that GT fans are the only idiots who don't realize when they have a good thing (Paul Johnson), I was at the Clemson-Georgia State game and was surrounded by several yelling douchebags who were convinced that Chad Morris was destroying the program. One said he wished Chad Morris would leave for another job, and another said he wished Chad Morris would go to Hell. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or punch them all in the throat.

Morris didn't do well this season, but it's just one season...

I could see him going to a Florida or somewhere like that. SMU just isn't a sexy name (at least to me). After "pony excess" and dead hookers, the name just doesn't bounce like it used to. Morris is a bigger name than that now... While I know Florida doesn't necessarily pay as well (their assistants), they are a better program. That said, Clemsons loss is our gain. I wish him well.

I cant believe SMU can and would pay a coach $3M a year. That's upper middle tier Power 5 coaching salary.

Clemons friend of mine said that Foley at UF has spoken to Dabo's agent and even him about the job down there... just heresay at this point but I think its ridiculous.
