Let's talk about the crowd

I really did not expect us to have a crowd that engaged, that excited, that LOUD after a 2-5 start. Really incredible to see all the fans stick with the team and get BDS whited out and rockin!

If the kids had given up on games earlier, I don't think the fans would have been there. This team is young and hungry and never gives up. I think the fans saw that.

All I would change is getting the students in their seats in time for the team to take the field. In my time, we had to send freshmen to defend our block from encroachers an hour in advance, and we were filled in 30 min before kickoff. These students don't fill out their sections until halfway into the 2nd quarter.

The tickets are free. It's Saturday. What are they doing?

It is not a stretch to say the crowd played a role in that win. Think about what it would have been without the false starts.

I'll always hate myself for not being able to get to Grant Field last night. I'll always remember how special the 2008 FSU game crowd was and I have zero doubt that last night's was every bit its equal. Major respect to the folks that were there, they were loud and rowdy in support of a team that had lost five straight.

The crowd was fantastic. We were much louder than anything FSU could muster and I think we helped get a few of those false starts. 2 fifteen yard penalties on FSU's second to last drive almost doomed us. Hell of a few plays, some false starts, and an incredible pick to bail us out.

The great thing about the tomahawk chop is it just isn't as loud as a crowd screaming their heads off.

My daughter mentioned in the second half that at least we didn't have to hear Florida State get spelled a lot with a "whooooo!

I was happy to see FSU's band in the upper north. Don't know if that was our decision or theirs, but visiting bands are always placed high and behind FSU's band in ööööhole Tallahassee so screw 'em.

I hope we put their band there as retaliation for where the put everyone in their place. You could not hear them on tv.

This. Man I'm kicking myself for not going down, instead I was working on my boat, when I should've been down there with you guys and gals. I could feel the energy and excitement just watching after that great run back! What an amazing win we really needed that! Go jackets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

. FSU had a hard time coordinating the chop because of the distance away of their band. I sit below the walkway in the UN and just thought "play to the ööööing sky ööööers because you aren't impacting this game"

They weren't even impacting me and I was sitting down below them in 218.

I laughed at this. I hope we do this again for U(sic)GA. When I was a freshman, the Tech band was on the sideline and the FSU band was in the end zone. We couldn't hear over the war chant. We moved them to the arm pit of the stadium. Still really loud. Last night, the only people that might have complained are the high upper deck folks. I like it!

Could barely hear them in the north side of the west stands. Total non-factor.

I think I bruised my hand giving violent high 5s . I think we could have punched each other and been ok with it.

BTW, one of the security guards down in the lower north was getting pretty rough with students after the game. To the west side of the band in the lower north. He was a big guy that was acting like an uncaged grizzly. I hope it gets handled. It was unnecessary.

A lot of FSU fans there last night and the few near us in lower west were pleasant enough.

I'll give FSU credit for one thing in terms of fan base - Silicon Valley, no. Silicone Valley, oh yes.

HGF/BDS was literally shaking as Austin got near the end zone. Packed house, best backdrop in all college football and a öööö great game and finish to boot. ESPN made the right call putting us on at 7.

Bobby Dodd isn't the largest stadium, but when the crowd gets into it it rocks just a loud as any other. I was down in 111 firing up the stands. No voice today, but totally worth it. The crowd was a big factor in the 4th quarter.

I was wondering what their band was doing in the upper north corner... Was it to reduce the noise impact? If so, we should stick every opposing band up there.

We were in the middle of the FSU section lower east. Typically we have Tech season tix folks around us, but they must have needed cash last night and sold their tix.
The FSU fans were pretty loud with the chant, but they were generally pleasant to us--they were anticipating an easy win!
We said good bye quickly as we jumped on the field!

Because typically they play the Seminole Chop after every play and so loudly that you can't hear anything else. It is EXTREMELY annoying.

So which one of you STers drives a white four door f150 with GT sticker in back window that was zipping down 400 about 20 minutes before game time? Lol

Not only that but they have a long history of playing every time our band does regardless of circumstances, I've heard them play during our fight song following a Tech score, play through the entire Budweiser song, just really stupid garbage like that. More than any other school I'm familiar with, Florida State's band has always been incredibly petulant and convinced that they're god's gift. That shot of their band in shock after the end of the 2008 game has always been beautiful to me.

One of a number of reasons for the intense hatred many of us built up for Florida State over the years when we played them annually.

I imagine the FSU band was too large to sit in the SW corner, and the GTAA figured out that they can charge a hell of a lot more for those seats than nosebleeds. The GTAA needs to make this standard practice though; the FSU band was a non-factor.
