Pre-Camp depth chart

You guys do realize that a coach will list some starters as 2nd on the depth chart as a way of motivating them to work hard, right?

Also a coach will list a senior #1 as a recognition of his years of contribution to the team in some cases. In either case I think having Kallon at 1 or 2 is a good indication that we at least have a little depth and experience on the defensive front.

Agree that the D Line looks competent, but I've said that for a while it seems. I just see the names and remember "oh he is guy who is supposed to contribute" but D Line always fails me

i'm mainly worried about OL. If they play well, we should be great on offense. Having to go up against BC will suck. They lost like all of their defensive coaches, but return a ton. CPJ has been pissed all year because last year so hopefully the team is ready.

All this is true. Plus, players that were out during the Spring are often expected to win their position back during Fall practice.

That offensive line and its depth does not look too good to me. I am not sure we have great talent at A-back or at linebacker. I do like the B-backs and the D-Line starters. Secondary lost some long time contributors, but I am hopeful the talent is there with new starters.
Green, Lynch, and Searcy at A-back is a talented group, imo. Davis and Mitchell not so shabby at LB.

That DL is worrisome. I could see Kallon playing well and fielding an above average line that will get us some sacks and play respectable run D. Or I could see Kallon looking lost, Gamble still playing out of position (SSDE), and little experience behind them. Lump that in with essentially 4 new starters in the secondary and it's a little scary.

I don't know about all-acc but if he can't beat out Alford we have huge problems at LB
As Coit pointed out him being listed No. 2 is perhaps motivation. Plus, I believe that it is PJ's MO to give a more experienced player the benefit of the doubt over a younger guy until such time that the younger stands head and shoulders above the veteran.

My prediction is that Brandt will really stand out this year.

Far out question, but with his size, will Brady Swilling be our short yardage/QB sneak QB?

I don't put much stock into this at all, especially when it comes to expecting young players to surpass incumbents. They haven't had the chance yet, plus these depth charts can be motivational tools.

That said, I'm not surprised at all to see Dedrick Mills at 2nd string. He was one of the standout players in the Spring Game, regardless of class. We're gonna have a serious 2 headed monster at B-back for the foreseeable future.
