Schultz calls out the douchebags in the GT fanbase

Well, when I heard them take callers on the radio there were two idiot bulldawgs and then a "Tech" caller who basically said he was glad for the win but thinks Johnson sucks. And then the radio announces went right into the rhetoric of how the offense can't beat good teams and we can't recruit with it.

Except our results show this is the most effective offensive scheme we've had since Little Joe, we have beaten good teams, and that our recruiting is pretty much just the same as it always has been, with this class looking to be particularly good.

The radio talking heads might not be intentionally awful toward Tech, but they certainly don't bother to look at facts. And when challenged, they blame the fans for not calling in or giving them a market. Is it chicken or egg? Who wants to call into Chuck & Chernoff if they're just going to berate you with no evidence to support their position?

While listening to some pre-game stuff on Thursday morning on 92.9, the only two "Tech" callers they put on both said they were rooting for UGA this year because they want Johnson fired. They may be the minority, (an even smaller minority after this weekend) but the majority needs to be a lot more vocal.

So you're saying that the non-looney majority needs to be more vocal on the point "I want the team that I support to win games, especially against its rival." I would think that goes without saying unless you're an idiot that would ever choose to root against your own team.

FWIW, at the end of the Chan years, there was a LOT of dissension in the stands. Just about every home game, I'd get into it with some jackhole who was rooting for the failure of his own team and players - it was much more fun to go to road games where at least everybody who was there actually wanted us to win. I haven't seen any signs of that sort of thing under CPJ.

Regardless of your opinion about CPJ, if you voice any negative opinion of the head coach, especially right after an emotional victory heading into the most crucial part of the recruiting season, you are a traitor and a selfish piece of trash who's worse than our enemies. These people need to be purged out of our fanbase because winning won't cure them. Even if CPJ stumbled onto the MNC game and ended up winning it, they would still be miserable and waiting for the opportune moment to spread internal turmoil. They need to be purged.

What's funny is you could insert uga for gt in the story for 2015 and it would read the same

First, Schultz is free to pick the corn kernels out of my turds to make himself some popcorn to watch the crap he's trying to stir up.

Second, if we don't beat VPI and we don't beat UGA and we turn in another lousy season, Paul Johnson is on the hot seat. We didn't, so he's not, and the people who want him gone because he doesn't run an offense they can easily follow are welcome to join Schultz for a bowl of that popcorn.

Most people are smart enough not to listen to loudmouth dumb@@@@@@

No, I talked with my buddy at work and he said the same thing. I popped him upside his fat head. Within 30 seconds of his dumbass statement, he was already backtracking what he said and that he was sure CPJ was the man for the job. Either I have a way with words, or that back hand is mighty strong.

I think Hank Williams Jr called that an attitude adjustment. You may need to backhand a few more Tech fans.

I tried to listen to 929 the last couple of weeks while commuting and finally gave up. They have one guy who's from New York but is somehow an FSU fan, another guy who's a Canes fan, and another guy from Minnesota (I think) who pretends to like all the local teams. I realize that Atlanta is transplant city, but when OSU/Michigan gets more air time than GT/UGA, funk off. And ofc after the game it was all about how UGA should've just handed the ball off for the win and how GT doesn't deserve respect for beating a crap UGA team, even though the guy opining admitted to watching OSU instead.

Every five years or so I give sports talk radio another chance, and every time I'm reminded of how the profession attracts more know-nothing bullshit artists than any other.

Q: Who tends to speak more loudly??

A. People who are content with a current situation.

B. People who are extremely upset and frustrated with a current situation.

C. GFY if you can't figure this one out.

The people who want CPJ gone are mostly old people who watched Bobby Dodd teams or whatever when they were kids or their sons who keep hearing it from their dads all the time about how CPJ isn't like Dodd or whatever. We just have to wait for them to die and we'll be good in a few years.

I''m not one of them. My father, a Tech graduate, took me to my first Tech game in 1947. I graduated Tech 1962. Dodd still had lots of goodwill built up from the great 1950 - 56 teams, but his teams during my tour were very average, with Auburn (not Georgia) the biggest rival from the perspective of most students I knew.
Today it's a different game and a different environment. Tech is a good fit for the ACC, and Paul Johnson is an excellent fit for Tech. He's a really smart coach, and his offense gives us a better chance to win than the 'NCAA offenses' used by our opponents. Not the best with the media (one of Dodd's strengths), but he's a straight shooter, and the players seem to respect him. If you think that whoever succeeds Coach Johnson is going to do better because he's smarter, can consistently recruit better than the top half of the ACC, and is going to stay at Tech for the long haul, I think you're going to be disappointed.
Support and enjoy Coach Johnson. He deserves it!
And THWG!!

Sports radio, much like political talk radio, is mostly designed to get people to talk, not to provide quality analysis.

the problem is that if the people don't subscribe to their opinion, they cut you off, call you a dumb ass, and hang up.

Anyone that wants to change our coach and our offense has no clue to how bad it can really be at Tech. I have been going to Tech games since Dodd was coach and the last 9 years have been the best stretch since then. The offense gives us a special advantage for our circumstances and lets us be competitive. Any offense can be stopped by a great tea or have an off day. You guys that want to change coaches need to find a new team to support. There is a school about 70 miles east of here that fired a 10 win a year coach and you would probably fit in well with that bunch......

Yeah, "sports talk-radio" in this town is like going to a dance where there are only two girls...and both are ugly. What can you do?
