Saban is a freaking genius

The interesting thing about this play is that the guy that caught it wasn’t the intended receiver. He was throwing to 22.
I don’t think this is right. I think Ridley was always the intended receiver he just had to wait for the window. He saw he had his man beat. But maybe. I pretty much have a raging boner for Tua Doabarrelrolla

And now Bama will sign all the recruits because Saban is gonna say, "Hey, you never know, we may need you to play a crucial role in the national championship game. You know we'll bench an upperclassman in front of you if he's not getting the job done." And dammit, he'll be right.

Not playing his true starting QB for 97% of the season was a genius move.

Saw both of these on Reddit postgame thread this morning, thanks for posting them hear too. An absolute gold mine.

Hurts needs to be primarily a running back and Wildcat QB. He just can't read coverage.

A few thoughts:

1. This could not have worked out better for Tech fans. Heartbreaking loss that shows how good Bama is/how far Georgia has to go. Georgia had control of the game until Saban decided to take it back.
2. This is why job security is important. Most coaches live or die with QB1, how many coaches make the call that early?
3. I don't think he would have trotted his FG kicker back out there to tie it in the first overtime. I think Tua had 4 shots at the endzone.
4. I'll put this at the best National Championship game ever, mainly because I don't care about USC or Texas.
5. I can go back to hating Bama again.

Agree except for #4. USC/Texas still the best for me.

If your running game is getting stuffed, go to your passing game. What an interesting idea. Didn't think that was allowed.

For 3, it depends on the situation. I don't thin they would have gone for it on fourth and 10 if they had another shot at a chip shot field goal.

The FG kicker just would have had to aim at the goal line pylon on the right and he would have shanked the tying FG through in OT. Thankfully, it didn't come to that.

Man this is great! I fell asleep into the 4th quarter on my couch and woke up around 2am and I see them still doing replays of the game, and interviews with Bama celebrating and I had to just laugh, couldn't believe it, hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad Saban didn’t recruit Tua to be a DB. He could have transferred to Tech.

Then again, if that would have happened Bama may not have come back in the second half, so scratch that thought and ignore this post.

Mods plz ban.

I wondered about that myself. The guy who caught it WAS the #1 option on the play.....did Tua just chuck it up to him and pray? For sure that play will be the most painful for UGA. You are literally ONE PLAY from sealing the championship.

Now I know it's not just us. Something about seeing a 'G' or 'GT' on a helmet turns backup QB's into Heisman winners.

Alternately:

If Saban had been playing his best QB all year, UGA wouldn't have the SEC title either.
