Watching James Graham highlights

Fitzgerald is Region 1 AA.
So his highlights are against 2A players, so we really do not know what we have yet. He is obviously the most talented kid in the highlights, but playing 2A ball he will have to make a big leap to ACC football. It will be fun to watch Tobias Oliver 6A vs James Graham 2A battle it out one day... FWIW Justin Thomas played (6A) in Bama High School... The highest level of comp in both Georgia and Bama HS is 7A.... Not saying James will be bad, but to even be recruited by a P-5 school a player at the 2A level should be the best player on the field... Now has to prove he is the best player on the college team to start.

I wouldn't rely much on where he played in HS. If anything, a 2A kid needs to show more to get the kind of attention he got. (4 star rating with offers from Auburn, uga, Miami, Michigan, VT and several others.) Yes, they recruited him as an ATH, but the same was true of Justin Thomas. I think the hype is warranted.

tons and tons of great players come out of the lower classifications. you can't control how big your school is.

fwiw, last year Fitzgerald played Camden Co, Tift Co, and Rockdale Co (all 7A schools.) They beat Rockdale, lost to Camden by 3, and got beat soundly by Tift.

There are reasons to be under center. It's harder for defenders to see who has the ball, and you don't have to gain 5 yards just to get to the line of scrimmage, like you do from the shotgun. The shotgun is beneficial for passing, so it doesn't make sense with our offense. If we line up that way, the defense knows what's coming. "Dual threat" from the shotgun means the QB can tuck and run if nobody is open, and that's not what we do.

I propose a compromise in this shotgun vs under center debate: something that has never been seen before We will call it the Handgun...No, wait. We shall call it the Pistol. Yes, that is the ticket!

This is spot on.

So we can get a 4 star factory reject every 4 or 5 years? I fail to see the logic.

I get you want to make a point that we're not blowing the doors off recruiting, but this guy is a great athlete, and isn't a reject. We flipped him from a factory, and they were very much intent on taking him until we did. Maybe consider toning it down to avoid insulting one of our newest players who hasn't shown anything other than enthusiasm and promise for the team?

C'mon TiA, you know the game...

We're Tech fans:

If we don't get a 4-* QB, we piss and moan.

I wouldn’t worry to much about him playing at 2A. Like many have said there is a ton of talent in that area and Fitzgerald plays a lot of upper classification games as well. Plus our last recruit from Fitzgerald worked out pretty well for us and ended up drafted by New England I believe.

We get a 4 star QB and guys complain about the competition level. Seriously? Well okay, let's get a 0 star QB from 7A then. Fitzgerald produced Jemea Thomas. He sucked, right? Never adjusted to the level of competition in the ACC! Give me a break.
