Duke Army Review

You are right...that is a speed option. The blitzing OLB is picked up and the DE becomes the pitch read... and you are right... speed options are quick.

Louisville did not pressure the quickness of the pitches at all. The QB had more time to process. Duke will give the QB less time to process as there are differences in speed even inside the “speed” option.

In the counter option, that turn has to be difficult. There may be someone in your face and you need to pitch. Louisville did not pressure the QB in the counter. Of course if they do, there is always the counter trap.

I think our first offensive play the last 2 games was a pass. Wonder if CPJ will dial that up again?

@beej67 It looks exactly like GT V Duke 2017.

2017 GT scored on on all drives in the first half except one interception. The second half GT started passing and pressing and did not score again (Duke had very very few 3rd downs in the second half). Duke scored on every possession but one in this game. Almost like our game against Louisville.

Got to play our game, don't press, and get some stops.

This. We scored 3 TD's with 1 missed P.A.T and threw an interception in the 1st half. They scored 2 TDs and 2FGs. They scored their last TD with a drive starting with 1 min 42 sec, iirc left in the half to tie it up at 20. They then scored another TD to start the second half. We crapped the bed on our first possession, and they scored another TD to go up by 14.

Rightly or wrongly, we started to press, trying to catch up by passing because they were crowding the box. It didn't work, and the game was basically history.

We've got to get stops on D this year.

@AE 87 is 100% right! The D needs 5 stops to make it competitive (allowing 2 field goals and 3 TDs) and needs 6 to 7 for a win! Stops can be punts, turnover on downs, or turnovers back to GT.

Duke did not need many third downs in the 2nd half last year.
