good thing we got rid of the option

This is absolutely false. I’m not making comparisons to GC, but PJ needed one or two really good OL and we were damn near unstoppable

Thru 4 games, I don't see any QB on the team that makes us "unstoppable" with any OL.

I do see several talented WRs that PJ and his scheme completely ignored the past few years.

Or Justin Thomas or John Nesbitt. Otherwise we were exceedingly mediocre or even bad.

And guess what - we don’t have one or two really good OL on this team nor do we have JT or the Beast.

The 3o was all smoke and mirrors. Literally everyone here knew it at the time and even reveled in it.

"The scheme is the talent equalizer" - said many times in here.

Now the scheme's gone and the talent differential is exposed. Except for our WRs, who played damn good yesterday. Why did PJ ignore them the last few years?

We will win another game. No way we lose all remaining games if our boys keep playing hard for 60 minutes like yesterday.

I’m not buying they played hard for 60 minutes. There was nearly 6 minutes if I recall correctly when Temple got their last possession. Everyone watching and playing knew Temple was going to run the ball play after play. They proceeded to throat kick us for the duration of the game. I’m not buying we played “hard” for 60 minutes.

Were you similarly bitching for the past 11 years when Coach Johnson failed to field a defense that had even a modicum of ability to stop the other teams? If not, then you're either a hypocrite, a dumbass or both. Hell, even in 2009 with 5 future NFL players starting on defense, we were forced to win games 50-48 or similar scores.

All of you saying that "Coach Johnson would have had a better offense than this" are absolutely correct. But I have eleven years of data to prove that he would have fielded a much poorer defense. And the players are essentially the same. So the same dumbasses (yeah...and by this, I'm definitely saying you're one of them) who are saying the coaches aren't doing their jobs because of the lack of offense are completely ignoring that the coaching staff took a defense that had 4 returning players and has made them much better. So making the "it's not talent" argument is actually proven incorrect by this. On defense, we didn't recruit for a defensive system that was vastly different from what everyone else is running...which has made it possible for us to have some actual hope that we will start to have some real defenses this year and in the near future. On offense, it's a bit harder to take a 295 guy who was recruited for a running offense and make him into a stud offensive linemen in only 4 games. Or to take a small framed A-back who can't catch and turn him into a slot receiver.

So, pick a side and stop being a little bitch. As for me, I choose to be a Tech fan and support the team and the coaching staff since they've only had 4 games to get an entirely new offensive system in place with players who weren't recruited for a passing offense. The same way I supported Johnson while he was here...because he was our coach and pulling against him would mean pulling against the team I love.

To be honest, I’m not completely sold our defensive has vastly improved. We’ve played one decent offense this year and gave up over 600 yards. Time will tell as the season matures, but I’m still suspect.

The blubbering from the Paul Acolytes who think he has nothing to do with the current predicament is hilarious.
I haven’t said anything bad about GC this week (at least, I don’t think I have). I specifically said I wasn’t comparing PJ to GC. The only point I was making was that PJ proved he could beat Uga because he did beat them.

It’s possible PJ was burned out and didn’t emphasize recruiting as much as he should have. Also possible he didn’t have the staff and support to do so.

Our DTs got worked over. Big Bee would have made a difference. J Lee would have made a difference. We need depth along both lines.

You know you can be a Tech fan and support the coaching staff while also criticizing and questioning their decisions? I absolutely want Collins to succeed, but to sit here and act like he’s doing the best job with what he’s got is pathetic.

He hasn’t done the best job. He’s also playing with a socket set that is missing several key sockets and the goddamned crescent wrench. So his coaching errors, of which there have been more than a few (screw the qb rotation) are being significantly magnified.

To sit here and act like 4 games is a valid sample size upon which to form an opinion is even more pathetic.

It looks like the 24 year cycle thing is a thing with gt... what may also be a cycle is a complete wasteland within 5 years of the peak season...

To reiterate, one of those 4 games was against the Citadel.

Who won that game, by the way?

I don’t understand the chest beating about our offense scoring points on unc and Duke that year. Most everyone scored points on them. ECU put up 70 on unc, Rutgers 40 and Miami 47. So we weren’t on offensive genius territory by putting up 43 in a losing effort.
Chest beating? I pointed out that they didn't stop us cold like phil collins said. That isn't chest beating, its just the truth.

So what is you you assholes want? CPJ to come back and take the reigns again? We'd have to wait for Cutcliffe to ööööing die before ever beating Duke again. We have been mediocre outside of 2014.

When we’re 1-11 will it be? The fact is: he can’t get it done with PJ’s players. But I agree with you: gotta give him time and see what he can do.

I have no idea if CGC is the long term answer at head coach. But he has already shown he can recruit so, worst case, if he goes the next coach will inherit more talent than was here when Collins took over. And FWIW, I'm still holding onto the belief that we beat Virginia Tech and quite possibly UNC and Pitt.

Well, he apparently sucks coaching players he didn’t recruit. In four years we’ll know whether he can coach players he did recruit. I’m hoping he can.
