08 Schedule released

Ole Boston College may pay dearly this season for padding Matt Ryan's stats. The only QB they have with any experience is SR Chris Crane. Crane saw more action as a Sophmore than he did as a Junior. He only threw the ball 4 times last year...2 vs Army and 2 vs Bowling Green. I am assuming that he will be the starter next year. The only other possibility that I see would be Justin Tuggle, but he will be a True Freshman.

Five wins, tops. Maybe only four.

Realistically, I think we will be 5-2 at home and 2-3 on the road. The early season will be the real mystery.

Wake Forest's misdirection offense has given Clemson fits for years. They play very aggressive, and I think we will be successful against them. I think Miami and FSU will also get overly aggressive against our offense. Luckily, all three of those teams come at a time when our offense should be running smoothly.

I don't see us spotting UVA 21 points this year.

Good schedule. I think Miss St. will be one of our tougher games unless they lost a lot of players from last year. They beat Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky and UCF last season.

Is this a joke? I mean I understand it's the nature of any buzzoffer to predict 4-5 wins, but when was the last time that actually happened? We've got two gimmes in Jax St and GW. Then there's Duke and UNC. There's 4 should be wins right there.

They return a lot of players from last year's squad. We will have to stop the run and we can not turn the ball over. Turnovers is what lead to victories in all of those games that you mentioned.

Mississippi State got very lucky in some wins last year. I am probably in the minority but have not been impressed with Croom as a head coach .... he is a very very strong Defensive coordinator. I pick this one as a win. We are mimimally 7-5 with this schedule maybe 9-3 on the top end.

despite Gardner Webb's presence on our schedule it still looks pretty damn tough. By my count there are 9 games that will be dogfights -- Clemson, UGA, BC, VT, FSU, UNC, UVA, Mississippi State, and Miami.

We've got 3 sure wins (Jax. St., GW, and DUke). Everything else is up for grabs; in fact if the games were played today we might only be a favorite over UNC, UVA, and maybe MSU.

tough schedule, but it will make for a fun season I think.

MSU is not good. They have no offense. Take a look at their two big wins:
Auburn: 5 Turnovers
Kentucky 6 Turnovers

Unless we give it away we shouldn't lose to that team.

Okey dokey, time to revisit the old Beej WinOMeter.

Aug. 28 Jacksonville State 0.9
Sept. 6 at Boston College 0.6
Sept. 13 at Virginia Tech 0.4
Sept. 20 Mississippi State 0.7
Oct. 4 Duke 0.9
Oct. 11 Gardner-Webb 1.0
Oct. 18 at Clemson 0.4
Oct. 25 Virginia 0.8
Nov. 1 Florida State 0.5
Nov. 8 at North Carolina 0.6
Nov. 20 Miami (Thu.) 0.5

Nov. 29 at Georgia 0.2

Based on the above percentage chances of winning, I expect 7.5 wins, 4.5 losses.

But then again, why break with tradition? Hehe.

The only one I disagree with here is the Miami game. 3 straight wins against them with minimal offense, I think it should be a 0.7 at least. Everything else looks good!

Miss State has Duke talent but went to a bowl game in the SEC. Imagine if Duke goes to a Bowl game. Croom can coach, but doesn't have the Jimmies and Joes needed to win.

They depend on turnovers to get the short field. If we limit turnovers and score early to take away the run, we will win. Of course other teams thought the same thing last year.

If we split VT/BC and beat Miss State, we'll have an excellent early season, with good publicity, that will help recruiting, and we'll be ranked in the top 15 when we play Clemson.

VT/Nebraska could be the ticket. Go see Steinkuhler and watch his sons play. Great work FloridaJ,

Kyle, you're out!
;)

Another option to consider would be our future opponent Miss State @ LSU. Or Penn State gets a visit from Illinois as well. Minnesota goes to Ohio State or Wisonsin visits Michigan.

Dook talent? In the past five years they've beat us 3 years and finished in the top 10 one year according to rivals rankings.

Not a joke.
Convince me otherwise, without wishing upon a star.
New coach, new staff, new chemistry on the squad, starters will be benched, others will emerge. Attitudes will be strained. Half the players in uniform this fall will have been selected for a significantly different scheme and technique. It will be a large job just to pull 80 guys together as a recreated team. To assume that once they are a team that they will be a good team is asking a lot. The schedule is not kind early--making the idea of producing any momentum far fetched. I see 3-4 after Clempsen, bowl streak all but gone and lots of underclassmen getting playing time. It just isn't set up for a good year.
Specifically----
Jax--a preseason tune up win

BC--Ryan-less but in Boston a loss

VT--loss

Miss State--Crooms is getting more players and they are buying into his program--we lose

Duke--might not be better, but they will be different --I say we win, but it is not a given.

GW--win and every player plays

Clempsen--at Clempsen and a revenge game--loss

UVA- maybe we could win this, but it's certainly only a toss up

FSU--too many athletes for us---loss

UNC--Butch Davis will have them improved; 50-50 at best.

Miami--very hard to beat anyone four straight--check everyone's records. I think we lose

Georgia--not this year either, sorry.

Show me where I am wrong. I'd like to be wrong.

But I'm not.

i think you are wrong on BC, Miss St, Duke, and FSU

to say it will be hard to beat Duke is to say that you dont believe in CPJs plan

about right except uva lost their QB and may not return,BIG change for them
and- Miami may change if they integrate in the FRosh

6-6 prob is good guess, at best
