10 UCF Players Opt Out

Yeah, but P’nude and CGC were more concerned with running their new offensive system, whatever that was, than actually winning a game. Still pisses me off they chose to embarrass GT. Hopefully they’ve learned. I certainly want them to succeed.
Pound Citadel for 3/4 of the game. Work on that other öööö in the 4th.

Not scared of no dadgum flexbone. That game last year was a perfect storm and will never happen again. It wouldn't have happened even a few weeks later. Don't mythologize that Offense.

More like taking the lumps last year to install a new system. Wasn’t going to be a good year either way, and the benefit is now we have guys with a full year under their belts of running that O.

I wonder how many players are going to be given “opt out” options for team rules violations. How do the opt outs work with scholarship useage? Are teams viewing this as a lost season and saving eligibility of goodbye players?

That’s a way of looking at it and I understand that. What I saw against the Citadel was an OC that was unwilling (or incapable), to adapt to the game situation. And I’m hoping that isn’t the way it is this year. I hope the game plan as outlined doesn’t completely override doing what works and is necessary to win. The first rule of P5 football is you don’t lose to the Citadel.

I hope the game management issues in the Citadel game have been addressed. We win the game with better clock management at the end.

That’s fair. We could have run some base plays for a fraction of that game and come out with the W. I tend to agree that CDP looked stubborn at times last year (ex. 3rd and 1 from the shotgun). Will be interesting to see how he calls games and adjusts his game plan in year 2.

EVER ! But we managed to.

We have zero opt outs, right?

That's impressive!

Other than Devin Cochran who didn't enroll as a transfer. Given that I haven't seen him pop up anywhere else and it's getting late, I am wondering if he will play this year. Dunno if covid related or not.

But otherwise, yeah. Impressive buy-in to the culture for sure.

WE will need every break we can get vs ucf. They are an established team..We are not in ANY way at this point.

Wasn’t it the same thing PJ did against Gardner Webb his first year? Same stubborn approach; it’s what most coaches are going to do in year 1.

Gardner Webb was all about an injured QB. Definitely not the same thing.

And oh yeah we beat GW

You realize 3rd and 1 from the shotgun is pretty normal these days, right? I used to scream at the TV when teams backed up from the line into the shotgun in short yardage until I realized this is modern offense and the teams probably succeed more than they fail given the more options they have with read option, etc. Just watch any saturday games and most spread teams do this.

I see a lot more QB sneaks than shotgun. Even Tom Brady will QB sneak.
