I wasn't around yet, so I don't know anything about the game, but it's on now...

You weren't born yet or weren't connected to Tech yet?

I remember that game. That was around the time I first started getting into football. I was in the 7th grade and only cared about baseball and soccer up to that point.

I wondered if that sounded like that... I was definitely alive, just lived in Texas and grew up an Iowa State fan, so had no clue about Georgia Tech yet.

Nothing has changed....The stands are still empty.

That was around the time that Hurricane Opal(?) came thru Atlanta. That was a terrific game...one of the many that Coach O'Leary & Co. used to get us back on the map.

Im just saying...

That was around the time I first starting watching GT.

get back on the map how? they lost 3/4 of the next 4/5 games. And the holes should have won that game with the momentum they had going into the 4th Q.

Well, the majority of that group went 1-10 in '94 and they fought their way back to relevance. They went 2-3 down the stretch, losing to a top-5 F$U team, a top-15 Clemson team, and to UGAg on a knuckle ball FG in the last minute. That team was pretty light in talent, but could've easily gone 8-3 if not for late losses to UGAg and @ Arizona.

got your point! thanks. Those years were a little shaky for me.

Question for the GT vets.

Why did we become so garbage after we won the '90 NC?? I mean those years were the recruiting classes directly following...donnie davis and all.

I think that most folks will sum up the fall from grace with 2 letters and 7 asterisks...

well, bobby ross left. although even Ross could not quite get back near 90 with the same team, essentially

then B*** L**** happened
he took a fairly talented team and tore it apart mentally
he removed any sense of team unity
it was not fun to watch
look online for Tom Luginbill or Donnie Davis

From what I can tell, it was a head coach between Bobby Ross and O'Leary.

When I looked at this guys' overall record at the two schools he was at before Tech, it makes me glad I know our current AD is such a smarter man than whoever was then (sorry if that comment offends). This guy had one winning season in 7 years as HC, the one before he was hired. Seeing how we were so close removed from a National Title, I can understand why you guys point him out.

I like DR, but I'm not ready to put him ahead of Homer Rice. Dr. Rice hired; Cremins, Morris (baseball), Blackmon (golf), Bobby Ross and then forced O'Leary in as DC for Lewis. He also saved GTAA with improved fund raising. He started the "Total Person Program" which many schools have since copied. I'll forgive him his one mistake, which he corrected.

By the way, that game is always on ESPNClassic along with Wake '01, I think every Clemson game with Joe Hamilton or Woody Dantzler, Miami '05, Citrus '91, ga '91 blech, etc.

Whatever happened to the Total Person Program anyway?

Yeah I put in the disclaimer because I couldn't find out who actually was the AD in that time period.
