2008 Football Uniforms

Straight from the horses mouth (spoke to the person at Russell working with Tech on their uniforms) about our 2008 uniforms. We have three uniforms picked out, white tops with navy letters with "light old gold" pants with navy stripes (home), navy blue tops with white letters and white pants with light old gold stripes (special occasions), and light old gold jersey's with blue letters. The person at Russell favors our "Vegas Gold" much better than the light old gold but apparently the older alumni won this fight.

I have seen the pictures and they look sharp, they are like VT's and Miami's jersey's with the sleek stripe across the front, extending to the back. The stripes on the pants curve and are not the traditional strip down the leg. Instead of our old stripes around the arms, the new jersey's are very modern. I like them but am not sure about the light old gold. Tech told said person at Russell they want to wear white tops home and away for the first half of the season and throw in the blue tops later in the year. Tech could change their mind, but as of now the designs are like I listed above. I have asked permission to post pics but am waiting to hear back. They are sharp and are much better than the boring-plain jersey's we had in the past.

Thanks for the the info. Post the pics when you can

I, for one, like the plain old boring uniforms.
I'm hoping the GT stays on the helmet at least.
If not, they'll have us looking like ND.
I can only hope this new stripe going around doesn't make the players feel like they're dressed up like a bunch of queers in a fashion show.
Nothing about Miami that I want our guys to look like.
Matter of fact, why not rub a little mud on everyone of them before they run out on the field.
Knock the pretty off of them first thing.
Then let'm line up and play smash mouth football and the one with the most blood left over wins.
YESSIR !!!!

YELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW !!!!

Thanks for the info. A little disconcerting though. I thought we were to try and get this thing right. What is the deal with "light" Old Gold? Why are we "working"' with Russell rather than demanding? They like the Vegas Gold. So what? Who cares what they think? Clough is gone. Who is responsible for this madness? How much does this crap cost? The inmates are running the asylum.

I hate the stripe that goes across the tops, but outside of that I like the new unis.

Of course, I have not seen them but, as described, they sound like vomit.

Every high school punk team in the country is going to the freakzoid curve stripes on the pants and evening gown striping on the jersies.

I was hoping we would be better than that.

True that! I like tradition and the idea of changing uniforms to keep up with the herd is kinda lame.

GT has always seemed to be better than trends, or being trendy...but then again, the thought of these new uniforms has me saying things like 'True That'...

Once again the old guard steps in and screws the pooch. I like the color of gold, but the uniform layout stinks. I may change my opinion when I see them in person, but it looks like we are going the way of the Oregon Ducks.

Could you guys be anymore selfish. Have ya'll given any thought to what the players might want to play football in. If a uni change makes the team feel more "modern", then that should be fine. I just want a uni that players would feel proud to play in and if they picked them out personnally than they would be proud. As fans we always look at it as being "our" team, which is not the case. Its the players team, we just get to watch and enjoy (or cry):laugher:

There's nothing wrong with those uniforms. You guys really do need to get a life.

exactly. As long as its not any extreme, like podka dots are something, I could careless what we wear. I go to the games for football, not fashion.

There's nothing funnier than a bunch of engineering nerds trying to critique sports fashion.

Seriously. When did we get a fashion program that rivaled AIU? Let the players have some fun with the uniforms. It's not like we're Penn State where the biggest change in the uniforms can be the color of the facemasks.

The most important change is the head coach......the best uniform is a winning uniform. They will be fine, I'm sure.

The new uniforms are sharp. The players love them, that is all that matters. It was time for a change.
