2017 CFB Rankings Countdown

Welp, if you subscribe to the scalar transitive ranking theory, Orlando Sentinel has picked us to win 4 games this season (3-5 in the Coastal) and contend for our division. It's going to be a wild ass Coastal ride!
LOL, you can say that again. Every costal game is going to be BIG!

65 Wake Forest
66 Cal
67 Tulsa
68 Troy
69 Miami (OH)
70 Boston College
71 Texas Tech

Are we really ranked below those teams or was that a different list? I am confused. Do they really think we are #78?

No way. This list was clearly "here's a top 25, here's a bottom 10" and then they literally rolled dice and wrote 2 hour summaries for the rest of the teams.

Ranking P5 and G5 teams together is generally pointless. Here are 2 other rankings

These 2 have 59 and 61 P5 teams in the top 70 and the top 50 being nearly exclusively P5. I think that reflects the reality that only a few G5 teams could compete in a P5 conference.

BTW, these 2 rankings have us at 36 and 38.

I would use these for this kind of thread, but they don't do a countdown. As far as I can tell, Orlando Sentinel has been the only name in the countdown game for the past two seasons or so.

The count down is definitely more entertaining, especially when it is wildly unpredictable.
