2018 Team Captains named...

Justin Thomas rushing totals for is career 2412. TQ Marshall had half of that total in one yr. TQ will top that total in 2 yrs. Justin was a fine player no doubt. But people are selling TQ short. The second yr the QB has the biggest improvement in this offense. When he gets the reads down, look out!
You appear to missing the point. Justin knew when to pitch. TM does not. Therefore TM ran a lot when he shouldn't have.

Although I think TM is gonna be 100% better this fall.

TM runs with field vision, cuts, shakes and bakes. JT was just fast. TM better be a lot better next year or we will be in the same place we finished this year.

TQ ran 7 plays all year at QB in 2016. I wouldn't that learning the system. LOL You need a lot of reps to get the TO down. 7 plays isn't going to get it done.
I'll bite and chime in here. I get what you're saying here, for sure. The only thing I would say is that at the end of the season, we should not be yelling pitch so much when it's obviously open. TQ has a eye for a lane, but the defenses also started baiting him into that, and we paid when the pitch would have been deadly. Again, I'm saying this based on the end of the season. He even admitted after the tenn game that he shouldn't have cut up and instead stretched the play and pitched it and never really seemed to change much the rest of the season.. He seemed to be looking for his cut up the field first, not looking at the entire play as it unfolded. I say seemed b/c I'm not an "expert" but just based on what I saw and a lot of DB's and safety's just pinching in vs. actually trying to take the pitch man...Just a thought. I get your 7 snaps from the previous year, but I think most people's view comes from the progression, or lack thereof, throughout the season.

My only response is that stats are nice, but W-L's mean a helluva lot more. The defense we had that year (2014) was leakier than what we had last season it seemed (minus the last 2 minutes of the half...)

In the end: Congrats to Mitchell and Marshall. Start leading us on the next year and to championships, boys!

I just think TQ with a good offense line this yr will be awesome. He will make the reads this yr and get the A backs involved as it should be. I know he ran the ball to much last yr, because he did miss a lot of reads. That won't happen this year because he will have the reps needed to excell in this offense. Can't wait to see where he takes us! And with a good defense we may be in for one hell of a ride!!!!!

From my endzone vantage point, I can see why he made some of the bad reads. There are times those lanes look like they are open, but close rapidly. It just comes down, on option plays, to him realizing there is a linebacker closing on that gap and recognizing he has numbers outside.

True I think he will realize these situations when they present themselves this yr. From what I've seen about the TO, he just needs the reps and he will be fine.

Love TQ. Great athlete. Kid with high character and a great attitude. Good representative of the Institute.

Where he currently lacks is in two key areas: quick reads in the triple and downfield passing. This limited our offense last year. We were not able to distribute the ball effectively in the triple-option due to missed reads. When teams forced us to pass the ball downfield, we struggled, resulting in TQ's low completion rate.

TQ is a fantastic open-field runner, but he will need to improve on these two areas to be in the same league of option QBs as JT.
