4 star freshman OL from suburban Atlanta started at Clemson, and some of the fans of the Atlanta team with the worst OL in Power 5 don’t want him. This board is incredible.

There's 2 guys in this thread that said they don't want him. That's it. Calm down Francis.

No it's not retarded. Also it ain't 1980 anymore, T-Fr no longer need 3 years out of HS to contribute in the trenches.
So you would have pulled Minihan for 1/3 of game snaps to play a freshman who isn't ready when we are literally fighting for our lives for Wins.

Hell, even Collins isn't that dumb.

I never said that either.

Once Minihan got hurt and we had to play the backup - a 6-4 319lbs should've played a lot better even if he a T-Fr.

T-Fr doesn't mean you forget how to snap the ball, and get completely blown up and pushed in the QBs lap.

T-Fr doesn't mean we should expect ZERO from that player, we should get "something", he wasn't playing the early 2000s College HoF Miami Hurricanes.

When you are ATL, you are thought to ready to play in a Game at a moment's notice, has there been another #2 Center that I'm overlooking?

you rise to #2 on the depth chart this late in the season, it would seem that you are a player that is progressing.

In Game9, I'm uncomfortable with the pushed into service narrative.
Aren't you one of the guys that keeps saying the OL needs years to mature? This kid was drafted as a guard and played only guard and tackle in HS. This was the first game he's ever played at center.

If you want a real laugh, check out the Gibbs/Mason post game presser where they were asked why there were problems late in the game. Gibbs starts by saying that there was confusion with the plays coming from the sidelines. Then, he immediately backpedals that the plays were correct and there was a failure to execute.

Pat and Key = oil and water. I could be wrong but sure would explain a lot. Occam has joined the chat.

Pretty sure Franklin was not a center in high school. We are grooming him to be a center though. Will Lay has been the backup center all year but he has been relegated to backup/starting G in some instances because of injuries/depth issues.

Why not move Lay into center then let #72 play OG , if this was his 1st time at Center , was Lay injured also?

This is why I hate when Coaches get secretive about injuries, you never why things go sideways

Becuase #72 hasn't practiced at guard. Like I said he's been being groomed to be the next starting center and that's where he's been working. We've had an extreme amount of injury to that OL group that couldn't have been expected. Kenny Cooper finally comes into a season healthy at the beginning but goes down with injury. Ryan Johnson playing through injury and even had to come out a good bit of one game. Both RT's injured and have to slide Johnson down to play T. KJ Kirby injured and while his main role is LT and hasn't been able to get past Cochran, Cochran was able to slide over and play RT when needed and let Kirby come in to play LT. That couldn't happen once Kirby was hurt. Austin Smith who I thought may contribute this year I haven't seen anything from, I assume he is hurt. Everybody else is still either young or a walk-on. Quality depth there takes several years.

Lotta injuries, geez

Bigger boys get injured more easily. Which is why we needed more OL recruited over the last two years of CPJ than we got.

Hold on, I thought our OL got injured during Johnson’s tenure because they were always flopping on the ground. I was told the new type of OL blocking would do away with this problem

Jesus, didn't know it had gotten that bad. I want to say this would raise my expectations for OL for next year, but I kind of felt like that going into this year. In another thread you talked about the touches Gibbs was getting. Do you know of a source that shows the number of snaps individual OL play? I'm curious if we our OL are playing more snaps individually than OL on other teams. Would also be interested in seeing how that has been the last two years.
Playing an above-average amount of snaps could also answer that question above on injuries.

Looking at the 2018 roster we had 27 OL. Now we have 22.

2018 Temple had 20.

2018 uga had 14 and now has 23.

Not sure who told you that.
