2024 Transfer Portal

I hear you, but in this NIL free agency environment, where you can pull forward most of that 40-year earning potential to the next year or 3, it's gotta change the calculus for some.
If Pyron was the stater, he would be in a better negotiating position.

For this kind of money, you can always come back and pay cash for your degree:

"Make no mistake that a good quarterback in the portal costs, you know, a million to $1.5 million to $2 million right now, just so we're all on the same page," Rhule said Wednesday while discussing the state of the program with reporters. "Let's make sure we all understand what's happening. There are some teams that have $6 [million] or $7 million players playing for them."

Maybe the COFH TV ratings thread would’ve been better

Bullshit. Coaches throw these type numbers out trying to drive their fans to donate more to “catch up”. No college kid is getting $6M.

Dang, I didn't realize. So he graduated in 2.5 years, 3 if he enrolled early. Hope others are correct about his devotion to GT.

This kid has integrity and that’s rare. They had a segment during a game on him on the ACCN and basically he promised his dad he’d never leave TAMU unless he graduated. He did that and then transferred to GT. When you listen to him he is a GT man through and through. I hope he uses his last two years of eligibility here for us. If we can continue to put pieces around him and upgrade our defense, GT could be very special in the next two years, even with a daunting schedule next year.

Feel this is good a place as any to post this:

we showed the country we’re no longer pushovers. UGAY fans have been telling me all week that they had a ‘bad’ performance. When do you ever hear that? They know we’re getting better and I hope Key has the opportunity to take pieces of the hedges next year.

My biggest fear of transfer on the offensive side is probably Rutherford. There were a lot of times during the season he looked frustrated with how he was being used.

Also, think we may lose Pyron unfortunately. He was a 4* coming out of HS and is going to be sitting at least one more season behind King and he will have some competition from Philo and Knowles. He could have a great opportunity at another school needing a D1 ready QB.
Pyron has reportedly said he plans to get his degree from Tech before he leaves.

If this were true about the QBs then King would be gone if he can indeed still transfer and play, and I wouldn't blame the kid for getting 1-2M

Be funny, though, if they paid out that kind of money for Sims

Rhule said 1 million for a quality quarterback. I wonder if the people who tossed in the NIL money for Sims at Nebraska are wondering how good of a steward of their money Rhule is.
I think Sims was on the order of $100k or so. Still a huge waste of money. Eventually the people writing these checks will smarten up. Or maybe they won’t, no real lack of idiots out there.
