#35 and #43 in the polls

The polls are absolutely ridiculous and are completely biased, especially toward teams who appear in the first poll of the year. If you start outside the first poll, then you have an extremely tough uphill climb into the rankings.

The ACC's black eye the first week of the season has set every single team back in our conference this year. Everyone is drinking the SEC Kool-Aid right now. There's no reason that the Big Ten or Pac-10 (other than USC-west) should have any more teams ranked than the ACC right now.

The reality of the matter, however, is that none of this will change until the ACC starts beating the SEC in our interconference games other than Clemson/USC (FSU/UF, Miami/UF, GT/UGA, etc.). Clemson's beatdown by Alabama to start the season really set everyone back. It doesn't matter that Alabama is a top 10 team (supposedly). It only matters that Clemson looked like a retard humping a doorknob (dodgeball reference) against Alabama on national tv.

I'm not sure we could do what we did in 1990 in 2008.

You can't just sail up in the polls like a team used to be able to. Its like the voters just refuse to admit they were wrong and only vote teams up to fill slots from teams they are forced to drop because of unexpected losses.

35th and 43rd is an outrage.

I expect that will change if we beat Clemson but that's what its gonna take. We aren't going to budge between now and then.

Heck, no, it won't. If we beat Clemson it will be, "Well Alabama just destroyed them." They are really just a crummy team. Now this will not impact Alabama at all, but rather be used to show their strength, however it will impact GA Tech by showing our lack of strength.

There are not 30 teams with a better resume than a win at BC, 38-7 over Miss State, an easy home win over Jax State, and a 3 point loss at Blacksburg.
But, win the next two and 5-1 will have us ranked by mid-season as teams pile up losses in the next three weeks.

We should be tied with Auburn, whereever they are in the polls. Good defense, new OC, new DC, 1st year QBs. However, I'll take Dwyer over both Lester and Tate.

Not worried about it. If we keep up the offensive progress and the pure hungriness that this team has shown, then the polls will fall in our favor when all is said and done.

This will all shake out. We'll have 2 easy and dominant wins, over 3 weeks where top 25 teams can get upset and accumulate losses, then we play Clemson on national TV. They should be ranked by then as well. That's our resume building game - if we win that then we're legit and we get major pub. If we don't win that, then we didn't deserve to be ranked anyway and getting our panties in a wad over it now is a waste of time.

I just looked at the Coaches Poll, and it really doesn't seem too far off to me.

The only national ranking I'm really interested in, is we're #2 in the nation in rushing yards.

One spot behind Navy.

:)

I don't care about polls, I care about VT losing some ACC match-ups and us beating U[sic]GA. That's what matters.

I share ya'lls irritation but does anybody remember the rankings after week 4 for any previous year? We aren't going to be in the national championship hunt anyway so it doesn't matter. If we have a really good year it won't matter much if we finish 8th or 4th or 9th or whatever.

I am not really concerned with polls. I know the respect will come when we do well. We got up to #13 and #15 in 2006 and 2007 and finished unranked. I don't like where they have us in the bowl projections, however. We should be going to the Peach, Gator, or Orange if we continue to play like we've been playing.

I am kinda ticked that OSU is still ranked highly after having ZERO wins over any decent teams and getting spanked like UVA against USC.

Do ya'll like how ECU is hanging in there at #23 despite losing to the Wolfpack? LOL. The AP writers are on crack.

very discouraged by the polls. There arent 42 teams in the country better than Georgia Tech. I'm sure BC, Miss State and even VT will vouch for that.

a week off isn't going to help climb any higher--and we will have to dismantle Duke and G-Webb....

time to do some work....
