#35 and #43 in the polls

Many good comments in this thread. Bottom line: if we take care of business, the polls will come around. If we choke, who cares if we were ranked 4 weeks into the year. I'll judge the year in January, not in September. We all know that our future is brighter than it has been in a long time!

The media hates the Jackets. We should at least be in the top 30 in each poll.

This is somewhat due to our past performances during the last decades. We win some games and then play like s**t when we get a decent ranking. These guys do not yet know we have entered a new era with Paul Johnson, but they will soon learn it. We have never had a coach with this much fire in his belly, and the smarts to go with it, since I have been following Tech, and that includes coach Dodd who I respect very much.
bingo!

we used to never know who was going to show up for a game. i believe that has changed.

i expect our consistency to improve. then it's on!

expect 2 D. Thomas wide receivers. expect 2 Roddy Jones a-backs. we're definitely going to have A. Allen and Dwyer next year.

I'm happy for Vandy, but they have no business being ranked and won't be for long. They needed a lot of breaks, turnovers, and good bounces in that Ole Miss game. They should've lost by 2 TDs if you look at the stats. There's only 4 winnable games left on their schedule: Duke, @Miss State, Tennessee, and @Kentucky. Even at 4-0 they still have an uphill fight to get to their first bowl in 26 years.
In 2005, (I think it was) they had a similar start (5-0 I think) and then tanked when they started playing real competition. Let them enjoy their one or two weeks in the Top 25, because they sure as hell will not be in the final Top 25 (which is the only one that actually matters).

Well, you're right, but I suppose it doesn't help our standing with the media when our coach calls them "morons."

Another big thing for being ranked in the Top 25 is that everyone gets to see the highlights and so forth across the country. That kind of exposure helps out immensely w/recruiting.

I do think that we will be ranked in the final Top 25 poll--something not done since '01.

Speaking of Bebe #2, do we still have a shot at Rolando Jefferson? He looks to be a stud.

How can you justify this? Our team is the definition of unproven: After four games, our starting QB completes less than 50% of his passes on a team that doesn't through that much anyways. Our kicker is also our punter, a pair of jobs in which he's showing improvement but still needs to be considered on a curve; our best receivers are at less than 100%. Before this season, of all of our skill guys, only BeBe and Greg Smith started any games at all.

We're ranked low because we have an offense that struggles to hold onto the ball, special teams that lack identity, and a defense that couldn't hold in the closing minutes of the only game the voters were really watching.

Don't get me wrong: I love the progress we've made, am excited to watch the rest of this season, and think PJ is definitely on the right track. If we keep the pace we've established, we're definitely going to turn some more heads before the season is over, and I think we even have some surprises yet to come. But let's not forget that a lot of people thought we would only win three games all year, and started us ranked (roughly) in the 80s out of 118 teams. 43rd and 35th isn't bad at all, especially considering how little people have seen of us.

Way to grab my attention on your very first post.

THROW - to hurl an object

THROUGH - from end to end. From one point to another.

Well damn, I wish our team had every facet of the game fine tuned and up and running to perfection like the 34-to-42 some-odd teams that are ranked ahead of us. I'm threw worrying about the polls now.

Was I the only guy that caught the biting, sarcastic wit of this post?

beej67,
thought it was pretty funny

beej67,

No you weren't - I'll be the first to admit that if it were there I missed it.

GT65 - I'm not suggesting that all the teams ahead of GT are better or have perfected their game. Maybe I just took some people too literally in their comments - God knows I'm the first to do it
