1 (DUKE) probably should be. So there is your ACC in 2006. Fired were Samford, UNC, NC St, Miami. And Al Groh got No Extension this year. 2006, forever known as The Year That Shouldve Been....

I wonder if they would have fired their coaches had they won 9 games and played in the ACCCG?

I thought Al Groh had a serious long-term contract at UVA and that's why they couldn't do anything with him if they wanted to. I don't see why an extension would come up even if UVA had a successful season.

I didn't know about the Samford coach. He must have done pretty freaking bad to get fired from a D-IAA school. But somehow, I think we would have beaten any D-IAA school out there whether their coach got fired or not.

Goes to show how down the ACC is this year... look at FSU, too. Geez.

Sad thing is that as down as the conference is and as much potential as we had this year, we didn't capatilize. Congrats to Wake Forrest, one of the smallest Div 1 schools in the country, for doing so (with a freshman qb and their top RB out)

The schools who didn't capitalize were Clemson, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Miami, Florida State, NC State, North Carolina, and Duke.

We didn't close the deal by beating Wake Forest as we should have, but to say we didn't capitalize when we had the best conference record and lost the championship by a field goal is just stupid.

Why does it matter what our record was if we didn't win the championship?

don't apply logic here...some are too busy spinning.

This is good news, it sounds to me like our HC is winning games at a rate that leads to firings of our opponents coaches. It's usually a good sign when you are making other schools change their coaches.

You can even look back at what an inconsistent mess we have been, now with our 8th coach in 40 years. Look at Bama if you want to see whata revolving door of coaching changes can do to even a stalwart program.

Ok, so how many years has Gailey been here? ..and what are his biggest accomplishments since arriving.. he can't even beat UGA in their down year. Tenure doesn't ensure success.

So you are saying if you don't win the championship you might as well be 0-12 Duke? That makes oodles of sense.

Every game matters, 7-1 in the conference and losing the championship game is better than 5-3 and not in the cahmpionship game. Is that so hard to understand?

Dude. Isnt it amazing that most people, and not the ones here, are pissed off, mad, and dont feel anywhere close to the way you feel- Everyone from Taz Anderson (whos in the majority of where the money comes from) The League was weak this year, we didnt win it, didnt beat Georgia, had the 100th rated Passing Offense in the Country- again. If Gailey and Nix had even the pulse of a passing offense to go with Tashard Choice we would be in good shape. Mark Bradley was right on the money today.

Sorry, but we could have won Saturday by riding Tashard in teh 4th quarter, without even a pulse on our passing game.

That's not capitalizing on an opportunity. We're only better off than Duke because we're in a bowl game. Which is exactly what we accomplished last year.

Things that I'd like to see each season:
Bowl Game
Beat UGA
10 Regular season wins
Win ACC Championship

We didn't do anything we didn't do last year.

Going 9-5 and not winning a championship is the same as going 8-4 and in the Peach Bowl- actually worse because you were 9-2! We capitalized on nothing. We beat VA Tech and Maryland-we lost to ND, Clemson, UGA, and WAKE in the biggest game we have had in years. Tired of it. Gailey should not be fired. He should fire Nix and step out of his freakin 1950's Americus Ga comfort zone and get an Offensive coordinator. He blew it this year. What Should have been...Oh well

This is just asinine - it's like saying Jack Welch is a failure because he's not Bill Gates.

We didn't do anything we didn't do last year.

Except win more games and win our division.

Maybe you should look at the last 40 GT seasons and see how many times we did these four things.

To expect these four things every year with the parity of college football today makes Bama fans look downright merciful.

I guess we see different opportunities being present due to every team in the conference (and UGA) being terrible. You see the opportunity to win a couple more games, and I see the opportunity for an ACC championship and beating UGA.

BTW, winning more games is the same thing as winning the division.

I don't expect to see these things year in and year out, nor do I really expect more than 2 of them to happen in a given year. It's just how I grade a season.
