4 Coaches Fired of Teams we beat and...

UGA in a down year beats the Coastal Division winner. What does that say?

UGA is not as down as everyone keeps chirping. Yes, they were down at the beginning of the year. They had major issues at the QB position. Rotating 3 QB's through half the season will cause problems no matter who you are. HOWEVER, UGA seems to have resolved their problems. Look for them to blow away their opponent in whatever bowl they are invited to. UGA has never been stronger during the last 5 years. This year they were loaded with talent again, but needed the whole year to gel that talent.

2005: 10-3 (lost to FLA, AUB, and WVU) Lost Sugar Bowl to WVU
2004: 10-2 (lost to TEN and FLA) Won Outback Bowl
2003: 11-3 (lost to LSU twice [SEC Champ] and FLA) Won Capital One Bowl
2002: 13-1 (lost to FLA) Won the Sugar Bowl

It sucks that we lost to them, but to say it was a horrible loss is ridiculous. UGA is at the next level. We're heading that way, but we're still on the step below them looking up.

good grief... If you read this board long enough..every bowl we play in is the equivalent to the Rose, we have to turn people away from games due to such high demand, Wake Forrest is the new Southern Cal of football...and now, UGA really didn't have a down year even though they lost four games..two to UK and Vandy, making our loss to them an understandable one.

Oh..and GT is going to be even better next year bc we won't have CJ and we will have an inexperienced qb.

Got it.

You’ll probably get tired of people’s negative posts. No one has equated the Gator to the Rose, and no one has said that Wake is the next SC. But you can’t tell me that the Gator Bowl isn’t better than bowls of the previous four years, that Wake isn’t a pretty solid team this year, or that 9-4 isn’t a step in the right direction.

I’m not at all happy about the way the season ended. Our team didn’t come through in the clutch, and there’s not any excuse for the way the offense has performed over the last two games. But listen to your arguments (some of which are very good points I might add), and cull out the stuff that is fueled by the two bitter losses.

He can't beat UGA. NEVER has...even in a down year for them..oh yea, they had a freshman qb..we had Senior with Calvin to throw to.
All comments about UGA aside, I agree that we’ve got to get the ball to Calvin. But you’re making it sound like Reggie is a senior we can count on to consistently get it there. It takes two to tango – so while CCG and Nix should take complete accountability for the offense, it’s at least partly Reggie’s fault.

we lose badly on national tv to UNRANKED Clemson
Who happened to be ranked #12 at the time, and who played a transcendent, lights out game of football.

Do I think we’ll be better next year? I don’t know. Do we have the talent to do so? Sure, but talent doesn’t always equate to wins (e.g. FSU and Miami this year).

Sometimes, you’ve just got to be a realist and take the good with the bad. Bottom line is we’re improving, albeit slower than some people expect. I know I’ll probably get railed for this comment because I’ve only been on the board for a few weeks, but some people on this board sound like fans of other schools that correlate their personal value to the success of their football team.

Hyperbole much? So who said we've played in any games equivalent to the Rose? And who said Wake is the new Sou Cal of football? Why not make up some more stuff to refute? It seems you're having fun dissing our team anyway.

haywire, it started with we had to win 8 this year then when our guy's won the eight the ACC was weaker than normal and then the critera became 10 and we had to beat the mutts win the ACC and go to the OB.
It's all about an agenda to replace CCG nothing more nothing less.

Excellent post. All I remember at the beginning of the season was that we wanted CCG to get over the 7 win hump.
