#4 DT in country Brandon Thompson....

First, if Chan runs the table (and it can happen) he will be 9-4 with a win over UGA and he stays.

If he doesn't have at least a 8-4 regular season with a win over UGA, than it is back to the same-old, same-old and no one seems to want that.

As far as recruits are concerned, they ought to be impressed with knowing that the bar is set at a decent level (i.e., ACCCG, BCS, frequent wins over UGA) and should want to participate in such a program.

I'm not so sure how you can speak authoritatively (i.e. your first sentence) when there has been evidence, both in this case in particular, and in other well documented cases on other forums, where discussions such as this have had a negative effect.

Regardless, it is clear from your actions and follow-up posts that we just disagree about what is in the best interest of the program. Rather than continue to argue and change nobody's opinion, all I will say is that I respect your right to feel the way you do, as I hope you respect my right to feel the way I do.

Have a nice day...Mike

Discussions of what? What cases? What did I say in this thread to harm the program? Nothing I have said is documented on forums as having a negative effect. Dodd's article is, as well as Winklejohn, nothing with me though. Your blaming things on me for no reason.

We do, I have always done what I think is right for the program and will continue to. Thanks for the concern. I respect your opinion but not when you slam me.

Dem, I'm not blaming you for anything, and I have not intentionally slammed you. I have only called into question the (unintended) effect your comments in another thread could have had.

What I'm saying is that comments such as those you made previously (in other threads voicing your opinion that a coaching change is necessary --if you like I can dig them up, but I'm sure you know which of your words I'm talking about) have been shown to have a negative effect, both here and elsewhere, on recruiting and thus the program in general. I did not say that your comments have had any effect, only that they could have, based on the fact that similar comments have hurt our program, and other programs, in the past.

I apologize if you feel that I was slamming you, that was not my intent, and I will refrain from further comment unless asked directly...Mike

I am just tired of my name keep coming up from a select few. Some things have shown a negative effect but not what I say on the board. Winklejohn and Dodd in fact did. Either way its not going to hurt the program, the coaches know how to go about the defense mode with certain things. The only people who are going to hurt the program are the ones running it if its not run the right way. IE, not winning or living up to expectations, not someone writing on a message board.

Anyways, check your pm's

This is getting ridiculous. The issue Chan is facing is his own doing...he hasn't produced this year with a veteran team and he doesn't have enough "points" built up from his past performance to keep the natives from being restless. But the problem is more about what the national media has been saying than what poeple are posting on message boards. Also if you read the article on Thompson, he says he is waiting on everything until the makes a decision. His coach also says he almost commited to Ohio State on his visit there. For us to leap to the conclusion that somehow we've cost us a recruit based on our discussion on message boards seems pretty far fetched.

Except for those of us who know he was close to committing to GT when all of this started going down.

These kids are not idiots. Whether posted on an internet message board or not, they know the team is not performing well, and that can't look good on the coach. Will he be fired? Think only a select few know that information for sure, and they certainly aren't posting on the internet.

I guarantee you that BT knows there is uncertainty at GT, even if all message boards were just like the hive painting things rosey. And you know what, he doesn't sign until Feb anyways, so even if he HAD committed, as soon as something is announced (either way), I guarantee he would re-evaluate things, whether publicly or not.

At this point, the situation is what it is, and it seems to me that people blaming message board posters are just trying to find excuses other than our on the field performance...

SMoney, if kids are getting the idea that things aren't all rosey at Tech from message boards, it's precisely because the Hive isn't all sunshine and roses anymore. The exact same discussions that go on here are going on there, and that board gets far more traffic.

I think RR cant police it anymore, after the VT debacle the walls came crashing in. Im sure he would like to paint a better picture.

He's not trying to. The only posts they've ever pulled were for explicit demands for Chan to be fired. What's going on now is discussion of the program, pros and cons and what ifs. He's always let that stuff pretty much go.

I know i was banned for voicing my dissaproval and not being on the chan wagon, this was before now 7 or 8 months ago before the bottom fell out. Anyway i stick by my feeling, this is not and has never been the coach to take GT beyond MEDIOCRITY.

Not disagreeing with you or promoting the Hive (I don't post over there - too much traffic and not enough time for me to wade through it), but I'd be interested to see what you actually said and if you were banned only because of voicing your "disapproval".
