Moving BDS would be a travesty and in the future, that move would be looked upon in a similar light to leaving the SEC. We are so lucky to have a field/stadium in the center of campus, with so much history, and such great views of the city. It is a very unique stadium experience. I do agree that many things would need to be updated and it would be great to see a 50 year plan.

Peter's parking deck returns to Peter's park. Boom, we have an amazing tailgating spot directly next to the stadium, and I'd have to say it has the potential to be similar to the Grove. Yo make this happen Fields and whatever other dorms should be demolished and replaced with several levels of underground parking plus new dorms and apartments. Add some luxury öööö in there for student athletes.

Next step is demolishing the Wardlaw building and rebuilding the stadium. Ideally the Edge is demolished as well, but that won't mesh with the current plans. Once Wardlaw is gone, we expand the south endzone seating (becomes a new student section) and return to the old school design along north avenue. It had a sick facade that met the street similar to the Rose bowl. I'll try to find a picture later. While the lower deck would retain the classic vibe of our stadium (both current and past), the upper deck/mezzanine would have a very modern feel, illustrating Georgia Techs design and engineering prowess. It would also house all those boxes we need. Unfortunately this plan would require us to play all of our home games in MBS for 2 years, and we need our own t Boone Pickens.

One of these days I'll draw up my ideas on this. I def have some unorthodox ideas when it comes to a future stadium to really set it apart, so it might be surprising when I actually show i

I assume you'd want that entire quad demolished. Might not be a terrible idea. Re-open the 3rd street bum-piss underpass and allow people to get in and out easier. Peters needs to go no matter what happens.

Wait, what? You want to demolish Wardlaw, which is boxes, which we are short of, and replace it with seating, which we have an excess quantity of (especially end zone)?

The 3rd St. Tunnel is open and has been for several years, at least on game day.

We're talking a 50+ year future plan here with a complete stadium redesign. The Wardlaw would be demolished along with the construction of completely new stadium with new boxes where people want one, instead of a shitty building on the endzone that blocks the view south. If you had actually I'veread my post, you would have seen that. Besides, Ive never understood why wardlaw was built where it was...terrible massing and terrible design.

Yes, exactly. Demo the entire quad. I couldn't remember the names of the others. It's been a while. With Peter's deck gone, it is really just a decision on where you are putting parking. It's either underground or further away.

Another thing with a new stadium design... Pedestrian bridge across north avenue to a new alumni center/beer garden similar to autzen.

Perry, Hopkins and uh...something. I lived in Fields and Perry for a few years. They were fun times. But those dorms can go.

You could prioritize parking on the other side of 85. Have folks walk.

What does Wardlaw block that regular stadiums dont? You want to be able to see the bottom of the GA State dorms?
 
People been talking about removing Peters parking deck for 30 years. it aint happening

IIRC it was Marvin Lewis who talked about it to the AJC when they announced the game series at the Benz. I would prefer for a proper new BDS, designed in detail and full to maximize homefield advantage from acoustics to seating to skyline views to you name it. The financials at the GTAA simply do not support that answer though unless there's a T. Boone Pickens type wearing gold around here somewhere. I'd ballpark that project at $500,000,000-$750,000,000 to complete based on Minnesota's new stadium and the extra cost associated with buildings so close and being in midtown.

This is a wheelhouse topic of mine. Here's a few items on my list for you:
- Seats must raise up quickly to help trap noise
- Fully enclosed for noise
- Have a canopy shade that makes standard seating in the west stands comfortable... that also traps noise (see: Seahawks stadium)
- Go back to a horseshoe, with Wardlaw capping it. Have a new (quite large!) multistory Wardlaw that replaces Edge as the home of the GTAA. New Wardlaw still houses a giant jumbotron, luxury seating, and a roof for fireworks.
- Since you confirmed that the big un-moveable (MARTA) isn't under the stadium footprint ... you dig the stadium down so it looks like it fits and it's modest from the outside and the The Hill won't throw a hissy. You enter at ground level outside which turns into mid-level inside.
- Completely agree about a classy brick facade right to the street
- Move Techwood Drive to the East ... easiest thing is have it go meet Williams St NW in a traffic circle at 249D.
- Wipe out all the old not-that-popular residence halls including Brittain dining hall.
- Move BDS due east about 20-40 yards to make room for more expansive sideline seating on both sides.
- To recoup lost parking and residence halls and dining space .... in the left over space (there's still quite a fair amount, particularly to the corners, east, and north) construct new high density multi-story dorms and high density multistory car parks that include significant underground storage as well. Set aside the ground floor on a couple of those residence halls for a new dining hall space. On game day block out and clear out the top floor of the new multi-story car parks and turn it into more tailgating space ... I would even be ok installing a big chunk of permanent turf on the roof for said purpose. You'll want some netting along the top though. I always felt like the top of Centergy would be a sneaky good tailgate spot with minimal help along these lines. If possible, use a little nook or cranny for an RV lot with proper hookups (for those who meet the necessary A-T Fund levels, of course :D).
- Obligatory mention of turning Peters into a talking spot


Things you can do that make it service GT beyond just a few Saturdays a year:
- First story of New Wardlaw is all collegiate style fast dining ... CFA, Taco Bell, WAFFLE HOUSE, etc etc. Which doubles as gameday selection. You have that a guaranteed winner in food service between students and games. You should be able to make a tidy profit and have highly desirable tenants. I imagine a small parade from students that this replaced Brittain. Now if you also demand higher levels of service from Aramark or Sodexho the students may erect a statue in your honor.
- New Wardlaw houses the GTAA on upper floors
- Dedicate some lower floors to mixed use / academic / classroom .... maybe use some of it for a new academic offering that would be popular with student athletes and relevant: sports nutrition, exercise science, and kinesiology.

First, that's sad...don't want to think about that.

No, the wardlaw is a terrible building, and it replaced a rad section of seats and facade of an iconic looking stadium and helped create the disjointed nature of our stadium.
 
Move the students back to the sections behind the opposing team.
