acc agreement

Also, please don’t leave us JJ. We need every fan we can get. What the hell are we supposed to do watch the NFL?
I just don't think college football will be bearable by 2031. All of it.

It already pisses me off I can't talk to the person next to me because our PA system painfully loud. I love loud music and concerts, but Jesus, take it down a notch.

Basically, the bottom half of the ACC, for the next 5 years, will be financing FSU, Clemson, and Miami's departure free of charge. What a great deal.
GT is more appealing than most folks think. I'm guessing JBatt and Cabrera have some sort of contingency plan on place, or at least they better. GT has significantly grown under the tenure of Cabrera, and we are really just at the beginning of the growth. GT is a pearl floating in the ACC cesspool. I don't get the appeal of Clemson, SC, or Tallahassee, Fl. Miami doesn't have a stadium, and they really need to fix that.

UNC's best bet would be to somehow convince the SEC they need North Carolina. The SEC could pick up UNC and have another Missouri level football school.

I know I wear gold colored glasses, but by total enrollment, grad and undergrad, GT is the largest university in the ACC. I know, most move away, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If they follow GT football, and watch GT football on TV and streaming, we can be a ratings darling for the SEC, BIG10, or a reworked ACC.

I do know, absolutely, that I will cease to watch football if we somehow end up in the garbage Big12

Separately, I predict SMU will be galloping to the top quartile very quickly.

That won't matter for quite a while. SMU's terms for being accepted call for them to forsake TV distribution revenue for eight more years. Cal and Stanford are also giving up much of their distributions. This money is going to be distributed to everyone else for at least 6 more years.

Revenue sharing by a conference is a necessary and reasonable step toward some semblance of competitive fairness. Successful programs already have tremendous funding advantages. Do you think Georgia and Alabama have a financial advantage attracting donor and advertising revenue in football over Mississippi State and Vanderbilt?

If you don’t like your conference, leave. Pay the established and agreed upon exit fees and live by the contractural agreements regarding future media rights. When a conference gets a new media agreement there is always a period of time from the agreement and its beginning date. If you don’t like the new agreement that is your cue to leave before it goes into effect.

This idea of distribution of revenue based on brand performance rather than on the field performance is absurd and subjective. If we insist on unequal distribution then make it truly based on performance. Have a base amount for all schools and distribute the rest of football revenue to the schools based on the previous year’s won/loss records. Distribute basketball revenue the same way. Why does FSU get more money for their precious brand after a year they were last on the field?

I was going to post this too. Relax JJ, it’s about the football and atmosphere. Have another cold one and watch the jackets beat up on Clemson
When you are in pain because the P/A is at 110 decibels and you can't even have a discussion with the person next to you, it is a problem. I have considered bringing my concert earplugs or even just wearing my Bluetooth earbuds

And every college football town I have been in are hella boring. Blah blah.....the college game day experience.....whatever. that tailgate is all you got, Tallahassee. I'd rather spend a weekend in Atlanta or Miami.

That actually shows 6 years of data. Not real sure who thinks 2019-2024 is 5 years but our numbers are actually better than that. Those numbers also don't include any games on ACC network which doesn't disclose ratings data. So I'm not really sure how anybody can truly say what the numbers are until they see all the data.

hi newbie, welcome to stinGTalk!

We stopped playing FSU annually years ago, and now we don't play Clemson every year either. The ACC has already royally screwed this up, so I could give 2 $&#@s if they leave and it all collapses. We'll find another home and the Tobacco Road Mafia won't be running cover for its favored son anymore.

The sooner the better.

If ESPN wants to keep the ACC intact it will have to upgrade the deal well before the end of the contract. If not they are risking the Big 10
making inroads into the southeast.

We are one of only two schools in the ACC, IIRC, to not attempt to choose a permanent in conference rival, so we don't have one.

From what I understand, GT did not request any games to be protected. So that's on JBatt and my biggest criticism of him.

I actually support the decision. öööö Clemson. öööö Duke. Our only two true longtime rivals.

We still play them pretty often and it gives us some opportunities to travel to our widespread fanbase. It’s not great and I would’ve liked to have kept it, but it’s also a two-way street. I don’t think Clemson wanted to keep it.

Clemson feels like they are above us now. Not sure who their permanent is, FSU? FSU play Clemson and Miami every season now?

With the new ACC agreement that tv ratings now determine the final payout, it's a mistake to not play Clemson every year. We should have asked to play both Clemson and FSU every year. Not only good for tv ratings but also good for selling tix.
