ACC Coaches

I don't know their names, so I will rank them by how well coached the teams look.

(1) WF - B - That guy must be a good coach. No. 1 right now.

(2) UNC - B - Brown's a good coach. But, losing to VT keeps me from thinking he's a great coach.

(3) NCS - B - Will know more later today. Maybe average.

(4) Clemson - B - He's a good recruiter and has a lot of advantages. Don't think he's a great coach, though.

(5) Pitt - B - Seems competent.

(6) VT - C - Maybe average.

(7) UVA - C - I thought he was a good coach, but it looks like he's in decline now.

(8) GT - C -Collins has ranged from F to B this year. I'll put him at C. But tonight can move him up or down in my book.

(9) Duke - C - He's done good at Duke, but seems in decline now.

(10) BC - C - Can't be worse than a lot of these guys.

(11) Louisville - C - Mediocre.

(12) Syracuse - D - Not looking too good.

(13) Miami - D - Hard to think he's very good.

(14) FSU - D - Not looking good. Doing much less with much more.

All these guys are hard to assess, because the ACC is such a weak FB league. I doubt any of them would survive in the SEC.
This is peak Stingtalk analysis here

Bro, he won 10 games in a season at DUKE. How many years do you think it took them to win 35 ACC games before Cutcliffe got there?

Yeah, Roof won 3 in five years and zero in his last 3 years. Anything beyond utter futility is a good job there.

Cutcliffe might've ranked that high 4 or 5 years ago, but have you seen Duke lately? He needs to be bumped down that list. That team is not good at all.

Okay I did some quick digging.

In 13 years at Duke, Cutcliffe won 35 ACC games.

In the previous 13 years, Duke won 9 ACC games.

I’d say that’s pretty decent.

Anybody hear what the Missouri coach said about going to Boston to play BC? If not, basically he said he was not at all interested in going to Massachussets to play a football game then went on to say - WTTE that we wouldn't waste our time recruiting in MA so there's no point in playing there. Holy moley - I hope BC beats the ever-loving hell out of Mizzou.

Paul Hewett went to a national championship basketball game. Is he a good coach?

Do I at least get a participation trophy? I mean, c'mon, man, it took me a long time just to remember the teams. There are 14, right?
You get credit for naming every school, but you did not show your work. I'll have to see if you signed up as Pass/Fail or grade

<3 wins a year is pretty decent? I sure hope Collins doesn’t turn out to be a decent coach.

The bar was set so low someone had to dig a hole to put it there. Just because he surpassed the bar doesn’t make it decent.

Mizzou Coach can say that because they have made inroads with GA HS FB Coaches due to their affiliation with the SEC

Even though Mizzou & Kansas have crap HS FB, Mizzou can go to Tex, GA, then raid the JUCO ranks and get the occasional player from St Louis

He's 100% correct, which is why you don't create Conferences with Academics in mind like what the ACC and B1G Ten have done

FB wise, what does BC bring to the ACC?

A small stadium, no HS crootin, no TV market ( but they pronounce it Mahhhh - kit)

Eff Boston, I don't blame that HC one bit, I hope BC WINS, but I can't get mad at what he said

Someone has obviously never been to Duke. With that football “stadium” the fact that he won any at all is amazing.

So the 4 star recruits we get now that we weren't getting during CPJ come from where since HS coaches now see GT as a non option for their players?

Or am I misunderstanding something?
For the 11 years before CGC & The greatest transformation came to town many HS HCs were very lukewarm towards GT because they knew their Players hated the system we ran , that was my gist

Now that CGC is here, even though our own Fans call him a used car salesman, the HS Coaches and Players are much more receptive to GT FB , they will at least listen

The ACC might have the worst FB facilities in the Power5, we are going to regret not jumping at that B1G Ten offer a few yrs ago

We could use the extra $23 Million per yr in TV Money

Uh, yes? 3-5 in ACC play at Duke is well above average. Elite? Definitely not. I’m not a huge Cutcliffe fan or anything, but I’ll give credit where credit is due.

It’s galling (and delusional) for a bottom-feeding designated SEC cupcake to act like they’re too good to play anybody.

Highly unfair to put CGC in tier4 considering the greatest transformation that GT FB has had to overcome, not just the great transition after they get to GT, but he had to rebuild Contacts with in State HS FB Coaches that the previous Staff rubbed the wrong way for some unexplainable reason

Hard to make any quick Fixes when the local in-State HS Coaches have basically seen GT turn into a non option for their Players for 11 straight years , I imagine that when CGC took over there were HS Coaches not returning GT's calls

Given the stubbornness of the "GT way" CGC is deserving of being in Tier3

GT is a a hard place to Coach because of self inflicted crap from the School itself, that's one reason that Boss Ross left GT for what was one of the worst owners and Teams at that Time (San Diego)

Be fair to CGC Tier3

I’ve been there, 1987. It was pathetic, I’m sure it still is.

If he was such a decent coach, why is he still at Duke?

I’m glad to hear some honesty for a change instead of blithering coach speak.

And then for fans of teams from other conferences to justify it. Puke.
