My only question is what media person picked Georgia Tech to finish 1st in the coastal?

No. 1,216 total yards rushing AND receiving last year barely cracks GT's top 10 in rushing yards alone. 7 & 6 TDs in his two years doesn't sniff any Top 10. He would have had to get over 1,200 yards rushing next year to catch CJ Williams for 10th in career rushing, who got there in three years, which would have nearly doubled his average for the first two years.

Behind one of the worst OLs in the country.

Best RB film in the country out of HS his cycle. Would have been a consensus 5 star if he had flipped the OSU. Heisman candidate immediately with Bama’s OL. Alvin Kamara 2.0 in the NFL.

I never said he wasn't good. He is not a generational talent. A generational talent would have been 5 star no matter where he goes. Alabama has had multiple Heisman candidate RBs recently - Smith last year, Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram, Shaun Alexander. Henry is the only generational talent in that group. He's not Derrick Henry.

He means generational talent in regards to Georgia Tech. Who have we had since Calvin who was more talented?

Don't know about that. Bijan Robinson at Texas is pretty consistently rated as better and was in the same cycle.

OK..... I have to ask... Who was the dummy that voted for GT to be first??? They had to of penciled in the wrong box.

Let's start with his last kickoff return for us.

As far as taking a threat to take it to the house every time. He had six touchdowns in 12 games.

But, but, but the O-line. A generational talent does better than that.

And Calvin Johnson never led the country in anything and was only 10th in Heisman voting. But you'd be hard pressed to say he wasn't a generational talent for us . I don't really care what Gibbs does from here on out, but I think you're wrong on this one.

I think for the Coastal:
Miami
UNC
Pitt
UVA
VT
GT
Duke

For the Atlantic
Clemson
NC State
Wake
FSU
Louisville
Syracuse
BC

Clemson easily wins the ACC Championship. Arguably, Clemson has one of the easiest schedules in the ACC. The ONLY tough game is Notre Dame. If Clemson does not end undefeated, they have problems. It would not shock me to see Clemson's SoS used against them, come the end of next season. I think FSU has the turnaround season. That's my predictions for the ACC.

You said 'eyeball test'.

I could watch Calvin play and see that he was a generational talent. He was the best player we've ever had playing that position. And we've had good to great receivers in the past - Hill, Lee, Middleton, White, Thomas, Watkins, etc.

When I saw Jahmyr, I couldn't say he was the best compared to Dwyer, Lavette, Ivery, Burns, Choice, Mays, Daniels. He was the same. Better than some, not as good as others. None of them were generational.

Yeah, agree to disagree on this one.

Not by me. And film / ratings don’t always link up when you have a guy go from relatively unknown his junior season to exploding his senior season.

Kelly Campbell was pretty dang good. Don't forget him. Tore up the mutts in 98 and 99.

If we end up on a trajectory of 2-10, does the coach make it to the end of the season?

Absolutely. The buyout goes down by millions in December. Since he was brought back for a 4th season, why would you not wait a month or so and save millions? If the season is playing out like you suggest, TDope is likely gone before the end of it.

I’m with smokey_wasp in that Gibbs is considerably better than any RB I have seen on the flats in my 34 years of fandom. And all the other guys you mention were generally playing on decent teams with at least serviceable OLs. If you just look at his acceleration in and out of cuts, no one else comes close. The dudes gonna show out this year and will have a Lamar’s like career in the league barring injury. With all that being said, I think we will be better this year without him. The offense just seemed to run better with dontae in the backfield and I expect that to play out this year.

Not intending to disagree with you as you said 34 years, but Robert Lavette (1981-84) is our all-time rushing yardage and TD leader. The first three years he played we won 10 games total (one ahead off our current pace, 16 total wins in 4 years). He finished on The Flats with 4,066 yards and 45 TDs. He's also 10th all-time in receptions.
