ACC Transfer Portal Winners & Losers

You’re telling me you see 1st rounders at the shrine bowl? No. You see guys that solely want to throw their hat in the ring for the draft.

Yeah Jimmy Garoppolo, Roger Saffold, Emmanuel Sanders, and Justin Simmons just name a few was just throwing their hat in the ring

1) got it, so highest you could find was a second rounder from 2014 and 2010 lol. Like you see how rare that is? 2) Jimmy G probably would’ve gone undrafted had he not gone because he went to a small school. Again, I like how sparse your examples are.

Youre struggling BAAADDDD!!!

Your exact words were good players don’t go to the East West Shrine Bowl.

What about John Elway and Barry Sanders

Oml, going ALL the way back now. Yeah, that’s a different era of football where guys just loves to play the game. Nowadays, if there’s no reason to improve your draft stock, there’s no reason to go. Again, small school guys and bad players go just to throw their hat in the ring. That’s also why a ton of guys are skipping the combine now.

Again, as shown throughout the thread and others, you don’t have the slightest clue of what you’re talking about.

Repeat your oxymoron to yourself:

Bad players are competing in an NFL showcase all-star game

An invitation only NFL showcase game at that. He acts like these guys just say to themselves, "Oh imma go play in that east/west bowl so maybe I get lucky and get drafted."

All 3 had the opportunity to sign at ESD and didn’t
All 3 also breathe air. One similarity does not mean the situations are the same.

Collins never even spoke to Dowdy, and went no contact with Black after his OV. Geef wanted Bonner the whole time, until Bonner didn't want him.

Way off on this one bruh.

Look at someone jumping on post with out reading

1- Who mentioned situations were the same? I simply said all 3 schollies were guaranteed and neither signed when they could’ve at ESD. How does the adage goes “If you’re looking, then we’re looking”

2- CGC couldn’t visit Dowdy bc he was at the Shrine Bowl, which you would know is a violation. Nothing prevented Dowdy from making the trip from Spartanburg SC to Atlanta

3- What more contact did CGC need to have 2 days before ESD

Thanks for finding the visual evidence of that visit. I mentioned it earlier in the thread. Black decided to wait until February to sign; same as Bonner did this year. Collins was obligated to honor the scholarships, but he wasn't obligated to chase these guys if they were going to be non-commital. Just as CPJ said, "If you're looking, we're looking".

I’ll ask you again, what solidified NFL draft picks have played in the shrine bowl as of recent?

Good grief. This has been stated several times in this thread. He didn’t drop them. They chose not to sign. There is a BIG difference.
They chose not to sign because Geoff didn't want to talk to them. Would you go to work for a boss that refused to even acknowledge you?

1. You literally said they are the same as Bonner (they aren't, but that's what you said) Collins was not "if you are looking, we are looking", he signed no OL in that class. He did not want them ever, and made that known by not talking to them. Bonner is a case of IYALWAL, which is why Lewis took his spot.

2. Nothing prevented CGC from giving Dowdy a call either if he was interested in keeping him. He wasn't interested.

3. Obviously a lot more if he wanted them to sign. But he didn't.

Correct, but he didn't drop them. They could have signed. They CHOSE not to.
If I forced you to the edge of a building at gunpoint, and gave you the "choice" to jump off to try and survive or get shot, well that's not really a choice now is it?

No contact is essentially saying "Come here and your football career will be over." Not much of a choice.

So you don't dispute the fact that he didn't drop them or tell them their scholarship offers wouldn't be honored? Good to know.

I think there is some hair-splitting here. Collins did visit Black, who was a local recruit and Dowdy did have the opportunity to come visit. So they definitely both had the chance to sign if they really wanted to. But no, he was not going to go out of his way to get them to, and I don't think he minded that they didn't. He did the bare minimum required of him because he didn't think they were a fit. And it isn't true that we signed no OL in the class. We brought in Southers as a transfer. So you could say Southers took one of those spots.

Ultimately, would it have been better to bring them in, knowing they wouldn't see the field and have to transfer down anyway? How does signing an OL who isn't going to play help your actual depth?
