Our offense is really good. If we can clean up those childish mistakes that prevented us from scoring, people are going to have a hard time stopping us. Now for our defense...when we were locked in during the first half we were pretty good. However, once UNC adjusted, we didn't. If our offense wasn't so good we would have lost that game. The sad thing is that our problems with the D seem to be simple problems like tackling, shedding blocks, etc. Like I said in another thread, if our defense begins to click and finally gets the fundamentals down, we will be a really good football team and I think 10 or 11 wins could be a possibility.

All true but at least the defense is showing flashes of that ability for stretches now. Honestly in ways I think the defense is getting better each game.

Tackling for us really sucked on some 3rd down plays. We should not have even been in striking range though. What happened to CPJ's nerve on 4th and short?

Very lucky to win this I think.

UNC has a big line and their running back is really good. Renner came into the game completing 80%, 71% against UVA, and he only completed 68% against us.

They had over 400 yards of offense against UVA and 332 yards against us. Yeah, we ought to get better, but our D is doing the job our O needs them to do, imo.

Honestly, without Nesbitt's power running and for what their line was doing to ours half the time, I can't say I hate that move at mid-field. Not like you plan to have an absolutely abysmal punt in that situation.

Our kickers are pathetic and will lose us a close game against a great team. #14 needs to play over #1. I'm tired of Laskey. He is no threat to return anything. He seems like he is the safe option. And his hands aren't fool proof. Let someone else return the ball.

I thought the defense played better today with the exception of the one big play and the first series. The offense is sick and Tevin looks great.

Looks like the O-line is pass blocking much better this year. Tevin looks to have the time he needs to throw the ball !!!

It was a tough game and we made it tougher on ourselves. I think our offense acquitted itself fairly well, aside from previously mentioned childish mistakes (Hill, after a spectacular game, started celebrating before he caught that pass and therefore dropped it).
Our defense did well, at times, but they had a screen pass that we never seemed to adjust to. Overall our D came through and got us just enough stops to win, but against a powerful offense, we're in trouble.

With all the boneheaded plays I've seen by the various punt returners last few years with the exception of Jerrard... I'm okay with the safe option.

I'll go ahead and decide not to say anything about our kickers cause I don't want to get banned.

I agree with you on Jemea. But on punt return unless you got Desean Jackson back there it is better to be safe then sorry. Yeah he had a bobble today but i'll take a fair catch all day everyday an let the O keep padding the stats

Not fool proof?
His hands have been so far!

OL looks so, so much better than last year. If we could tackle better and find SOMEONE to cover a tight end, the D would be perfectly adequate, possibly bordering on decent.

This also. Said it earlier in the week. This is the best oline play I've seen under Paul Johnson for the first 4 games of the season than I've ever seen before. The counter option pass play was also ööööing genius. PJ is really creative.
