The conversation continued until last night, but there's just too much of it to copy and paste. The board member only made a couple of responses last night, both of which I thought were absurd, the posts by those Collins fan-boys....OMY Sickening

BTW, even if you never use it other that to read significant posts, you should create a FB account.

There are several Tech groups on there. What I posted was in the Georgia Tech group. You have to join it, but it's free, and again, even if you only use FB to read posts, it's worth it to join as many of the special interest groups as you want.

i think I found the one you referenced - it’s a GT Football group and has ~12,000 members

That's it. Now, if you want to see the thread I have been referring to, just do a search on John Knox Porter. He's the AA board member who made the original post. LOTS of Collins fan boys made posts praising Porter, although I think he's FOS

As a 3 year football letterman, member of the All American Bowl Team and current AT Board Member (funds GT Athletics) be reminded of the truth.

I was part of Bill Curry’s 1st recruiting class and proud to be a Jacket. The teams I played on beat Clemson, Georgia and Alabama multiple times.

The freshman my Senior year won the national championship. After worst seasons than the last 3 we turned the corner. We are Tech men, we are smart, we are tough and we do not quit!

All of us including our coach, AD, President, letterman and Alumni are committed to turning the corner again! We have the very best personnel for the situation at hand and are making adjustments but it will take more time for football!

There are reasons we are in this spot because of the institution structure. We compete with Notre Dame and Stanford not Georgia or Clemson!

It will happen, the overall sports program and institution is very competitive and healthy after our AD came back to campus.

We have 11 director cup teams, ACC champions in BBall, Track, Swimming, Volleyball, Golf, 26 All Americans, 7 Olympians and off the chart graduation rates. We are diverse, competitive and thriving! We are pouring resources into our football program.

Yeah. This is the mentality that will kill GT football. Guess what dude, we compete with UGA and Clemson EVERY year on the gridiron. And if we are talking about the smoldering crater that is GT football, don't sell me rainbows and unicorns on sports that aren't football.

I do not give a öööö about how many olympians we have. Win in football and basketball. IDGAF about any other sport besides a little baseball.

I hope you are still checking out that thread. Mr. Porter just stunned me. Someone on that thread challenged another poster who said that TRUE Tech fans wanted Collins gone. The one who made that claim said, " I have been around long enough and buying season tickets long enough, that I know who the real fans are, and we know a lousy coach when we see one, having seen quite a few, and Collins is a lousy coach." In response to that Mr. Porter actually said, " Understand and don’t disagree." WOW !!!! Then he was asked (no response yet), " Well, I have to say that that response was a surprise. If you don't disagree, then why did you and the other members of the board not work immediately to clean up this mess?" If he understands and doesn't disagree, I sure hope he will answer that question.
 
Porter responded, and I actually think he gets it, although he still gave a pretty standard response: "We are working on it, changes are coming". We shall see, but I think a little more of him now than I did last night, so here's hoping.
 
In an earlier post by Porter that I somehow missed, he said, "I am not a Collins fan. I am a Tech man and fully support our program, AD and President." Sorta surprised that he admitted he is not a Collins fan. Surprised, but glad.

So this is where the "True Tech fan" ™ morons went. We had a few of those here a few years back. Sounds like they've multiplied and formed an echo chamber

People who "don't disagree" are weasels.
 
Mr. Porter really stunned me in another post he made, in which he said, "I am not a Collins fan". He may be a better member of the board than I had given him credit for being.
 
"So who’s going to be our next AD"?

Because ADTSTAN has made it clear to the boosters that his wagon is fully hitched to G**** C*******, and the boosters have made it clear that they will both take the fall next year if we don’t at least go bowling, maybe even if we don’t hit 8 wins. And neither they nor I see that as a very realistic expectation at this point.

I really don’t get it. I understand loyalty to "your guy," but there comes a point where you have to face reality and cut loose the dead weight or you’ll get dragged under. He could probably give himself another 3 years to fix the program by hiring another HC, but ADTS is placing a huge wager on next year with the deck very much stacked against him...

This has been my biggest disappointment with CGC. He came in known as a defensive specialist, but his defenses have been close to abysmal (in terms of defensive FEI):

2019: 93
2020: 88
2021: 119

How bad has our defense been? The worst season we had since the Bill Lewis was the HC is CPJ's 2015 3-9 season. That year our DFEI was 48. That was under Ted Roof. Remember Roof? GT fans' favorite punching bag until he left for Appalachian State. Roof actually had multiple DFEI seasons in the 40's and 50's. Ted Roof also had less talent to work with.

IMO, if you have a calling card, but you're no longer good at what your calling card is, then we have a problem. This is like if CPJ came in and our rushing offense was horrendous. The lack of Coaching the Boys up isn't becuase Paul Johnson, the TO, or roster management.... It is becuase he is a Crappy Coach and it is not working and the AD is going to get fired becuase he is to prideful to fire the guy he hired! Meanwhile in 2022 Bobby Dodd will be empty on Saturdays becuase the AD and Collins lost the fanbase.
 
I keep seeing the same ööööposting disguised as a fresh take on the situation. It’s wild.
