You are right re: the lack of cut blocking. I noticed this in the Mercer and BC games. If memory serves I saw cut blocks mostly when our OL was advancing to the LBs.
And for comedic relief, VT had two 15 yard illegal blocks on the same offensive lineman during the Tennessee game. Not fully satisfied that Beamer wasn't head coaching it, but at least he was there to witness.
