Al Groh told me he felt like a "Catholic in a Baptist Church" while working for Paul Johnson at GT. Was glad to be "removed from it."

Hmm.

My great-grandpa always said never to trust Catlicks. So there.

I felt like a nun watching hardcore porn when watching Al Groh's defense. I'm glad to be removed from it.

Was more of the fact he was no longer a head coach but now an assistant making him feel weird?

I hope this f---wad doesn't make GT toxic for available coaches. Dam old people, they don't give a crap.

Don't think it was any secret that the two of them had different philosophies about schemes, practices, and organization.

I don't doubt that CPJ let Groh run the defense by himself for a while though. I don't know how many times the defense could have continued to have problems with communication and lining up in Groh's 3rd year before he realized things weren't working.

On the flipside, CPJ clearly has his assistants on offense that he has history with that he brought over from Navy... doesn't seem like he has that with defensive coaches.

i take it as him simply saying that he felt like an outsider somehow and uncomfortable, nothing more insidious than that imo. he just didnt feel like he fit in

I infer that it is discipline/philosophy related.

Baptists are lax, while Catholics (practicing) are fastidious.

I think you've got the stereotypes backwards... Baptists: prim teetotalers ("You know why Baptists disapprove of pre-marital sex? Because it leads to dancing."). Catholics: drunk sex maniacs. These are obviously ridiculous, but they are the standard "so a rabbi, a priest and a Baptist preacher walk into a bar" stereotypes...

He meant that he felt out of place. That is all. Move along.
