Anyone feel like this depicts GTs defense?

That was his 1st year here with some disgruntled Oleary holdovers that quit on him...No comparison.

Yeah, but weren't there TWO "51-7"s under Tenuta's watch (granted a few scores in that VT game were not the D's fault)?

Please send Wommack a DVD of the Sugar Bowl. Gary Anderson is a defensive genius.
If we could have gotten this kind of pressure on Jefferson & Stafford we would have blown them both off the field.

The LSU OL is better than Alabama's....particularly with Alabama not having Andre Smith...and lost another OL starter in the 1st qtr.

Everyone needs to remember that LSU was ranked around 5th pre-season...lost to Alabama in overtime due to a bad call in regulation which caused a downward spiral for them. LSU is immensely talented.

We also need to remember that our young defense was extremely banged up the last three-four games of the year...missing Word-Daniels, Reese, Griffin...then Bowen, Walker...then Barnes. Next year should be better despite the loss of several DL.

Their OL dominated our front line the first half....then we made adjustments to our looks and confused them in the second half.

Their front 7 dominated our OL....keeping us out of the endzone the entire game. Our WR's were open but our passing timing was poor. I think OL improvement will be a challenge for us again next year...could end up with some inexperienced kids with a lot of PT.

Don't even get me started on special teams.

It was a poor game all the way around...arrgh.

Bama and LSU don't use the same offensive strategy. So you're basically saying if we had gotten pressure on Jefferson we would have won. Maybe. But the fact is we would have had to do it differently because of how they play.

I was sitting there thinking the same thing last night.
Anderson with our talent would have never given up the points we did the last half of this season. Make no mistake about it, Utah does not have the talent we had this year on defense. I agreed with Jimmie Johnson and Barry Switzer that Alabama or any of the the other top 25 teams would not have recruited the guys on that Utah team coming out of high school. Meaning they were not highly thought of, but definetly coached up. That is simply good coaching on the defensive side of the football by Anderson. Put him here as DC along with PJ and we win the MNC.

Commentators said Alabama lost their right guard, who could be considered one of the best players in the nation, and his backup. It's very tough to shuffle OL around like that, as we found out against UNC.

Note that Spurrier fired Wommack last year and this year USCeast's defense went from 6th in the SEC to 7th. USCeast also got beat 56-6 and 31-14 to finish the season and had 31 scored on them by Iowa in the bowl game. Apparently firing Wommack didn't fix USCeast's problems.

56-6 was against UF...Spurrier had Van Gorder hired for about 2 weeks until he got the better offer with the Falcons. Give Spurrier credit though, he will not tolerate much more. He will never win at S.C. not enough talent.

Swinney at Clemson is upgrading his defense, looks like he may be stealing Kevin Steele from over at Bama as DC. Good move if it goes through.
Lsu and Miles didn't take long to right his defense, he has hired former DC Chavis from UT. Giving up 50+ to Ugag riled up the Tiger faithful and they were used to great defense under Pelini before this year. Good moves by both Lsu and Clemson.
