App St vs. Coastal

Or as some schools would tell us.....that's it?

You ignored the second part of my point. The Baltimore Ravens can draft their team. It’s not only about coastal Carolina’s offense or coach. It’s how it will work with Georgia Tech and the biases we are already facing.
That's the thing though, Tech was bale to do it in the flexbone with no recruits. Coastal could do even better if Jamey could recruit well, which I doubt he couldn't.

It would be a difficult sell. Local media and everyone else in the world will immediately make the same comparison you just did. Not impossible but improbable. I for one believe while CPJ had his warts he was a very very good football coach. Not sure I believe Chadwell is at that level.

Matt Rhule was highly successful at the D1 level. Chadwell doesn’t/hasn’t coached on this level yet. Sure, rhule didn’t fare well in the NFL but neither did Spurrier.

Starting to think Rhule might actually be the best option out there.

I'm sorry but did we not just spend 4 years trying the recruiting thing? Was that not proof enough for y'all that we really can't get into the top 25 consistently, let alone the top 15 (which is what really matters)?
There's a reason CPJ lives in so many people's heads here. Deep down you all know that we will never and can never recruit to the factory levels needed to run it like Alabama or UGA.

We have to do something different.

Like a Friedgen offense.

Guess what? The triple option isn’t the only “different” offense that’s out there. It just happens to be the only offense that’s nearly impossible to transition out of because you are left with smaller linemen and ZERO tight ends.

Indeed. Leipold and Chadwell have done well. Even with TEs, forward passes and other foreign concepts.

We can’t be a perennial top 10 team, that is true. But we can recruit well enough to reach a Wisc/Iowa/Mich St level. Solid teams that can make a big run every once in a while. VT used to be at that level.

No offense to Matt Rhule, but if you have any ties to Temple.... I'll pass. I know a guy from there who I don't care for very much.

Difference between .579 and .58 is negligible
FWIW, I would lump O’Leary in there in terms of W/L difference being insignificant. All 3 had fairly similar tenures, although I appreciate the highs CPJ led us to the most, and GOL whipping UGA ass holds a special place in my heart.

What’s also amazing is the degree to which QB play was pretty much the sole determinant of our success for all 3 of their tenures. Johnson was competitive every year without much talent at QB, and dominant when we had a good QB (barring the 2015 anomaly). Gailey was competitive (but mediocre) his whole tenure. Imagine what 2006 would have looked like with a Joe Hamilton at QB. O’Leary struggled at first to turn things around after Lewis, and then things took off when Hamilton and Godsey were running the show.

If we do end up hiring Jamey Chadwell, I hope like hell he prioritizes QB recruiting. Coastal would not be as great as they are without Grayson McCall.
