Are they coming after Tenuta?

aTm fired Carl Torbush. JT a marked man? We should double his salary now, even if CG, DB or whoever has to take a hit.

No.

Tenuta is the highest paid assistant in the ACC and he likes his boss and he gets first pick of the players and it appears that GT has great stability and Atlanta is a great place for a millionaire to live.

The liking the boss thing, as anyone who has worked for many bosses knows, is worth it's weight in gold.

Re: No.

Some good points. Hope they hold true. How do you know he is a millionaire?

I can tell you this. Tenuta is not leaving for another DC job ANYWHERE. If he leaves it will be for a Head Coaching Position.

Which is what he deserves if he wants it. A cool $1M and calling his own shots.

IIRC, he interviewed with a school or two after last season. Hopefully, he prefers just to coach his wonderful D! Being HC does not appeal to everyone.

Not positive, but he makes 500K a year and everyon

I know making that kind of money is a millionaire.

Or he will be very, very soon.

If he is spending 500K gross salary in Atlanta he is living like a rock star.

Re: No.

Good points, GTCrew, but I'm not sure what you mean by "GT has great stability". Are you talking about the security of coaching there, the stability of the football program (which I'm not convinced of), or what?

Re: No.

I would assume he means 5 year extension for Gailey and 9 straight winning seasons among other things. A&M by contrast is a school that will probably be making some major changes if they don't see a quick turnaround.

Correct. I was thinking specifically of the

direct comparison with A&M.

Fran is in a desperate situation where he has one year to right the ship or he is gone. The DC move is meant to placate the alumni, but the fire is still blazing under his seat.

Imagine an outrageous $1M offer for JT. Here he makes half that but Chan is all but set for five years. So that's $2.5M. So even a crazy high offer would have to be combined with some job security to override GT's package.

Re: Correct. I was thinking specifically of the

Has he been considered for any other HC job after the Ohio U job that was mentioned last season? And by this I mean have insider reports come out mentioning him?

I have heard absolutely ZERO rumors about JT being considered for a HC job. I'm not really on the inside of anything, but rumormongering is a hobby of mine.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/2orglaugh.gif

Still somewhat early in the coaching shuffle, but it does start in earnest this week!

Tenuta makes $275K/year.

He's the highest paid assistant coach in the ACC but NOT in the country. I'd like to remedy that.

BTW, I do think we should worry about him taking the DC job at Oklahoma or Texas A&M or any other BCS conference school with national championship aspirations. He loves BIG TIME college football; I'm far more worried about losing him to a program like that than losing him to the NFL.

Finally, he really wants to be a head coach at the college level. He's not as anti-social or misanthropic as many believe. He's very bright and can be very personable, and I suspect he knows he'll have to turn that on to be a head coach.

If Ralph Friedgen can do, Jon Tenuta certainly can! At least he doesn't have the physical limitations Ralph faced.

Re: Tenuta makes $275K/year.

Never noticed it mentioned but how old is Tenuta?

Re: Tenuta makes $275K/year.

Def Coord are NOT as prized as offensive coord. Do remember what's his name down at Ugag. He won the "broyles award" and received MUCH more recognition than Tenuta but was basically laughed at when he interviewed for Miss?

So he had to go to the NFL.

Tenuta may leave but it is unlikely. He is well paid.

Is this a "Freudian slip of the tongue" caused by our AD's own dismissive words?

Has DB "Jedi-mind-tricked" you into believing that we are NOT "that type of program"?

We ARE IN a BCS Conference in the 10th largest media market in the USA; in all HONESTY we SHOULD BE A PROGRAM LIKE THAT!

Maybe I'm nit-picking, but it sure seems as if mediocre expectations are widespread among GT fans since CCG's tenure began.

Is it mediocre to beat two top ten teams on the road? Ugag only beat one ranked team and that was us. I guess they are not EVEN mediocre. If we could could get Ugag's easy schedule we would be playing in the SECheat championship game right now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugher.gif

He\'s 49.

And to WnE: If you don't think there's a difference between Oklahoma/Ohio State and GT, you've been sleeping for 50 years. Those are the two BIG TIME programs Tenuta's been associated with. While Texas A&M hasn't won in a loooooooong time, they are a sleeping giant with all the resources and none of the restrictions we have.

I do not disagree with or hate the things Braine said.

I'm sure all the RECRUITS just love to READ THAT FANS LIKE YOU DON'T THINK GT IS A BIG TIME PROGRAM LIKE THOSE "OTHER SCHOOLS"(i.e. Olkahoma-Ohio St.)!

Why can't WE be a "sleeping giant"; we are located in Atl.,Ga. the BEST (affordable) city for folks aged 18-25 and a DESTINATION CITY for those "Afro-Americans" that Fisher DeBerry was talking about?

Why is it SO HARD for GT to find 20 studs each year that are smart enough to major in Mgt. or Econ.?

The PROBLEM is, is that we are so damn "undesirable" under CCG's watch that we don't even recruit well among those that CAN DO GT's ACADEMICS!

We end up with an unpolished QB out of Redan (B. Ingram) while MICHIGAN and BC swoop in and get the 2 BEST QBs in the state; this is NOT AN ACADEMIC PROBLEM, this is a RECRUITING & FB PROBLEM!

The examples are too numerous to name of LOCAL HS kids that have gone on to make the NFL and have majored in things like Econ and Mgmt. at other good academic schools.

Our "so-called" limitation & restrictions are GREATLY EXAGGERATED by excuse making, mediocre loving, GT FANS; fans that think exactly like you do!
