I can't guarantee it, but a lot of what is in this Article - it looks as if our own CGC believes in the same Coaching Gospel.

This is Management Motivation 101. KITA management rarely works over the long term. Just think about it. VERY few people perform their best when they are nervous or scared. Even supposedly hard-ass coaches like Bryant and Lombardi . . . you listen to their former players and you can hear the love they had for these guys, and THAT is what makes you want to run through brick walls.

It is real simple and obvious, except to the dinosaurs around here.

You need positive motivation and strict accountability, and the players need to be confident they will be treated fairly. Like novocaine. Just give it time. It always works.
So does Coach Boone's veer offense. LOL.

You can take your 30% bowl win rate and guaranteed mediocrity if you want it, but I want more.

I remember when GT had the highest bowl win rate in the country.

Do you remember the last time Tech won one of the major bowls (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta)? How long are you planning to give CGC to win one of those? Or do you consider winning the Meineke Car Care Bowl to be not "mediocrity?"

... In high school... LOL

Not in college bowl games with time to prepare or opponents played every year with coaching continuity
I can't let you forget that the ACC Commissioner's Office had a vendetta against a system so smart and full of genius playcalls that opposing Teams always got bye weeks before playing us, you can't forget that one, that doosie might have been used more than all the others combined.

Feels great to know all that's in the rear view mirror now.

Glad you're enjoying 8-18.

Yes I do.

Changes in Major CFB meant that a Conference runner-up (us) played against a Team that was a 4th seed in their Conference and they didn't make their Conf - CG, I think they entered that Bowl Gm on a 3 Gm losing streak (I could be wrong)

By adding 2 additional layers of Playoff Games (Semis & Finals) for P5 that meant that Bowl Gm was the equivalent of the Gator Bowl we won with Joe Ham when we finished 10-2.

When the CFP Doesn't include one of those Old School Jan1st Bowls, in reality the Name might have said Orange Bowl, but the equivalent was the Gator Bowl of the late 90s.

Let's not argue people, let's do our best to put out the most accurate info we can and let the chips fall where they may, just tell both sides of the story.

Life is too short to argue.

I remember winning the national championship, and not just the 2014 anomaly. Did 2015 bring you back to reality? Guess not.

Paul's anomaly was over 11 seasons, so Christ let's at least let Geoff's players be something other than Freshmen!

Does your accurate info not include 2009 for some reason? Was that actually Geoff Collin’s team?

-edit- I see he specifically said “WIN” orange bowl. Carry on.

as for the coaching philosophy: I like what CGC is tryi mg to do for the players. My fear is the pendulum will swing too far and we will lose that accountability portion. The benching of Jeff Sims helped alleviate that fear as has the elimination of most dumb penalties. These are positive trends for a young coach learning his way. I remain cautiously optimistic in the new regime and this season. These next 3 weeks will be very telling.

What year do you think his first recruits are in? You really think all his recruits are freshman? Like he just recruited them this past off-season? LOL. And please, none of this "the Covid year didn't count" Bravo Sierra, OK?

I'm rooting FOR CGC as long as he is Tech's coach - as I have said here more than once - and have not called for his removal. I want him to win every single game as long as he's our coach.

However, I'm not good at math, but I think (?):

82-61 > 8-18

Of course that could change with a nice 74-43 run over the next nine years or so. Which I'm certainly hoping for, at the very least. Even though IMO, that would still be . . . mediocrity.

You do realize, of course, that CPJ's win/loss record and CCG's win/loss record are almost indistinguishable. And both are a bit better than sainted CBR's. Most of the coaches since CBD have had losing records . . . I think maybe Pepper Rodgers was about .500 and the only one really better than CCG and CPJ was CGOL - and not by as much as you might think.

So, please, Stop sh!tt!ng on CPJ, and Tech's football teams from 2008-2018.

What do you think the "dinosaurs" used? Shock therapy?

Sims, Gibbs, et. al are freshmen.

And do you really think it helps your flailing if he has some true sophomores from his first recruiting season? Calling them that does not improve your case.

Your favorite coach is responsible for the 6-16 start. He stopped recruiting offensive line and none of his quarterbacks were functional, even for him. And Geoff is more responsible for Paul's 19-7 start than Paul was. So use the rule of taking away a coach's first two years and saddling him with the two years after he leaves, his GT record adjusts to 69-70, which is very similar to an adjusted record of 2-2 for Geoff.

But I feel a lot more hope than I did before. But I guess you just loves your Quick Lane Bowl.

This is silly. The qbs on the team were a fit for the 3O. The line was fine for the option. The WR core was good for whoever.

Recruiting was more improving because T Stan was putting money into it.

CGC chose to make the transition happen faster. He could have transitioned slowly away from the option. That is fine. He has the team moving in a good direction.

I’m not sure why any fan wants to piss on the current or former coach.

You are sure quick to defend Johnson. Do you defend Collins as vigorously, or are you just a hypocrite?

And what have I said that is "ööööting on" or "piss on" the former coach? Numbers are numbers. My analysis of recruiting is analysis. Contrast and compare to the regular personal attacks on the current coaches on this board.

Anyone who thinks we are not in a better position now than we have been in a dozen years is self-deluded or obsessed with the triple option. Great young core. Recruiting is still improving. We are a destination for players now. Depth is starting to emerge. We will bite a few people like UNC this year, but we will swallow them whole in a couple of years.

The only think that could öööö this up is ourselves.

Sure, I defend Collins when people say obviously false nonsense.

For example, CPJ was recruiting offensive linemen. Oliver was clearly functional running the option.
