Athlon Preview of Georgia TECH and their 2022 Schedule

Simply not true. GT like Stanford, NW and even ND cannot target the same players as tOSU, Bama, LSU, UGA, etc.

The schools academic requirements limit that pool from the start.
Translation, we dont pay enough to the athletes to get them over the aforementioned schools.

Athlon went 4 teams deep at 26 players per team in their preseason ACC All-Conference Team
and the yellowjackets landed three

Third-Team Defense
LB
Charlie Thomas, Georgia Tech
Fourth-Team Offense
RB
Dontae Smith, Georgia Tech
OL Jordan Williams, Georgia Tech

Every year we are expected to do well, we suck. When we are picked last, we surprise people. I'm sticking with that. Will be a decent year.
We were picked pretty low last year. And finished that way too.

No one is defending CGC for the results and lack of progress after 3 years. So with that said, I’ll ask again.

Where is the $$$ going to come from to buyout CGC, and hire a better HC, staff, etc? From all accounts, the GTAA is broke. The 1/X millionaire alums GT loves to tell everyone about sure aren’t investing in the athletics programs, or else GT wouldn’t be in the position they are currently in.

I’ll include hoops in this same question. GT doesn’t have a true funding from fans like Clemson.
Fair point. The school does not take athletics seriously and funds it accordingly....for failure. But in all honesty you could probably bring in a staff from a Georgia high school and do about as well as Collins has. The lack of funding is what makes the AD job at GT so very important. It necessitates a great AD who can go out and identify a rising talent. Then, if that coach succeeds, be able to find his replacement when someone else comes along and hires him away. TStan aint that man.

The Tech millionaires give, just to the school rather than the AA. Tech has an endowment of 2x that of U(sic)Ga, with about half the students/graduates. And when you have little demand for tickets, you don't have the incentive of making a donation in order to have ticket buying access. If I want to go to any GT game, there are tickets on Stubhub for plenty cheap, it's a principled decision to buy season tickets from the GTAA and pay the face value and Tech fund donation.

So we have 3 players in the top half of the conference at their position? Cool

This is the least I have ever cared about GT football, and honestly, the fact that I am posting this means I care. But, I have always cared a lot, so of course, I still care.

But, this year will be brutal albeit a miracle that I can't foresee. I actually believe the most likely scenario is this year will be even more brutal than the previous 3 seasons.

Lord, I hope I am wrong.

After the last 3 horrific seasons, we should probably get rid of the “celebration cam” on the sideline of our indoor practice facility.
