ATL Crap

Running out of the tunnel behind the Reck with the USA and GA flags was a far stronger symbol for Tech than any of the stupid ATL/404theculture crap. It’s Georgia Tech, not Atlanta Tech or 404Tech.

So naturally we changed our runout and got a bunch of cheap looking hats and t shirts and a logo on the fake field.

I don’t mind the ATL stuff (as in ATLANTA, not ‘above the line’) so much, but the 404 is kinda lame. I do agree with you on the flags and the Reck leading the team on the field—I miss those days.

I’d get rid of it. It’s dumb and hasn’t done öööö I’m the way of bringing fans or players.

put TECH back on helmet tabs and for God’s sake get rid of the stupid 404 crown patches.

if I were coach Key, I’d tell the cheerleaders or Reck club or whoever to make a big paper banner for Duke game that has a big GT on it with “Back to Basics” written on it and have the Reck bust through it with team right behind it carrying the flags.

Fuk all this Collins stuff and get rid of it immediately.

having the USA and Ga flags as is traditional would be a good move for key! lets do it.
don't they still run out behind the wreck?

It isn't a "we can do one or the other" situation.

Wait… did they get rid of the wreck????

Is it really though? It feels like it started 15 years ago when cities were much more likely to only have 1 or 2. Atlanta has like 6 or 7 area codes lol. Just smacks of millennials trying to keep something cool and genZ is like whatever.

Either way get rid of it way too much Collins stench.
404 is still synonymous with Atlanta though

That’s where I fundamentally disagree. ATL conceptually looks good on paper - Give all the students a chance to get playing time based on effort so long as you’re above a cut line. However, it’s fundamentally flawed. In competitive sports… you need competition. The best players should be on the field. Effort should be applied to get to be that best player, that first string or first backup.

focusing on Atlanta and developing a brand and culture around that is a great idea. But culture and especially culture change can only be done by incremental change and leadership by example. You have to acknowledge tradition and build upon it through concerted effort. You can’t just come in with all these ideas and shove it down peoples throat and call it a brand.

Also whining, expressing concern, holding people accountable are all part of being a fan. So long as you care and you engage and you support our players. I don’t bash on Collins because he loses games. I’m critical because his methods, approaches, and the behaviors he exhibit are not aligned with what I think GT has traditionally been about.
Sorry but I was talking about ATL as in Atlanta. My bad.
