Bama now has 20 ESPN 300 commits

Has Alabama produced a NFL quarterback since Namath? I actually put together a NFL team of Bama players from the last four years and it wouldn’t win a game. They produce a lot of nfl talent but a majority aren’t even first stringers.
Tua was first or second round, and he is starting now. Jalen Hurts is also starting now.

Yea I thought of them as I was hitting post. But my general point is I do t think you could make a full NFL roster of Alabama guys.

Alabama well-represented on 2020 NFL rosters

The University of Alabama football program continues to stock NFL rosters at a steady rate as 57 Crimson Tide players are active going into the league’s first week.
Alabama also had six players sign with practice squads. The former players re-signing on Sunday included wide receiver Gehrig Dieter by the Kansas City Chiefs, tight end Hale Hentges, wide receiver Cam Sims and center Ross Pierschbacher by Washington, defensive back Jared Mayden by the San Francisco 49ers and snapper Carson Tinker by the New York Giants. There were reports that wide receiver Robert Foster, who was released by the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, would sign with the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to the 57 active players, eight players are with teams but inactive at this time. Five players also elected to opt-out amid concerns over about the COVID-19 pandemic: Dont’a Hightower (New England), Christian Miller (Panthers), C.J. Mosley (Jets), Andre Smith (Baltimore) and Chance Warmack (Seattle). Also, linebacker Reuben Foster (Washington) and wide receiver DeAndrew White (Ravens) will miss the season on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson (Rams) is on the non-football injury list and cannot be activated before Week 7.

You are way behind in your current events. Alabama has two NFL QB starters, Tua and Jalen Hurts. With Tua being named the starter a month ago, Bama now has an NFL starter at all 22 NFL positions. Think about that. In other words, you literally could form a very high quality NFL team just from Bama players. Not sure how you came up with your assessment. Bama is overwhelmingly the leader in NFL players too.

Preseason rankings don’t work. They should be trashed and it should be against any media agreement of those who show CFB games to promote or talk about them.

ESPN, CBS, Fox, and NBC shouldn’t be allowed to reference directly or indirectly on any of their media platforms (no analysts, hosts, talking heads, pundits, reporters, or announcers). For example, ESPN can’t formulate their own Top 25 or even talk about someone else’s.

This SEC/OSU quality loss non sense is CFP poison. The committee is biased and poisoned before they even rank anyone at Week 8.

I'm talking about the computer rankings, not the Harris or Coaches Polls. If you used those, then polls at any point in the season would have no bearing on the CFP.

Even late in the season, the CP was a cluster. For example, Frank Beamer perpetually put VPI opponents in the top 25, as predictable as a sunrise. And you will never convince me that he or any other coaches watched games not related to their own seasons.

So your argument is that because you can’t build a winning NFL roster based solely on Bama athletes then what? How many schools can you build a whole roster from?

Not to be Captain Obvious but I’d wager the answer is none. Maybe Ohio State. That’s all I can think of.

How many go pro that were four and five stars versus the rest of the country? That’s the stat that matters.

Every year to top talent goes to an increasingly smaller pool of schools. Bama is literally an NFL team now. When will this positive feedback loop break? The CFP has totally failed college football IMO. Expand it to 8 teams so the talent will at least spread back out a bit.

Expanding the playoffs only makes it easier for the Alabama’s of college football to get in the playoffs. Expansion is stupid for that reason alone.
Also, not going to hate on Bama as they are the only thing that has stood in the way and stopped the mutts from winning at least 2 National Championships since 2012.

It would also make it easier for a team like tech to get in if they had one loss and didn’t win the ACC...

THIS is Elite recruiting.

No way IMO Bama’s, Clemson’s or UGA’s recruiting practices and benefits for players are on the up and up. It makes zero sense to sit on the bench for 2-3 years or even have to promised scholarship pulled at the last minute if you can go to other P5 schools and get playing time year 1 unless their are other benefits. And a fine education certainty isn’t a benefit at any of those colleges.

Did you not see the NFL roster representation posted above?? If Bama is putting just double the amount of players in the NFL as another school recruiting you, is that not enough reason to go to Bama? It is somewhat akin to students passing up a scholarship at some other school to pay out of state tuition to go to Georgia Tech for an engineering degree.

The pertinent stat would be the percentage of five star recruits that sign with Alabama that end up playing in the NFL and the same stat for four star recruits.

Is it really though? To a recruit I think just saying you have 57 players on active NFL rosters would be enough. If you want to play for a national championship and/or play in the NFL then Bama and Clemson are the teams you want to be on.

Actually, yes. Besides the aforementioned Tua and Jalen, Richard Todd and Jeff Rutledge come to mind. This kid named Kenny Stabler was pretty decent, too.

8 teams would only be a sliver better than 4. The selection process is the problem. We took a step forward with the CFP, and five steps backward when we ditched two polls and six computer rankings in favor of a 13-person committee who has a direct financial interest in who plays.

They waste no time reversing themselves. Conference championships matter, and then they don't. Whatever gets the revenue-pumping chosen ones in.

If the 4-team format stayed, but the committee was replaced with the old BCS computers and you only accepted the top-4 conference champions, there would be fairness, transparency, an important regular season, and a shot for everyone.
1000 times this. NCAA college football is more corrupt than in any time in my life.

You could possibly win a super bowl with nothing but the Bama players who are in the NFL. Just look at those running backs and receivers! QB is a little weak, but if Tua or Jalen develop into quality starters . . .

College football has become way too much football and money and not nearly enough college. The ridiculous players union rule in the NFL that requires college players to stay in college at least 3 years before declaring for the draft very much helps the Haves and hurts the Have Nots in CFB even more. That needs to be changed to “one-and-done” just like it is in basketball. You’d see a lot more parity in CFB because the 4-str players would go to schools where they could get playing time earlier rather than wait their turn on rosters like Bama for 3-4 years.
I’m almost to the point I’d support a break away from the colleges with real student athletes like Georgia Tech from the ones like Bama, Clemson and Georgia who primary existence is to support an NFL farm program like Minor League Baseball does for MLB. Let the players who have zero interest in learning and the college degree go play for at places with virtually no academic burdens and pay them.
