Here's how the BCS works now that SOS has been mostly removed, you take all teams who have the fewest number of loses. It doesn't matter if you have one lose or 7, just so that no one else has lost fewer times than you. Then you rank the teams by conference.
SEC, Notre Dame, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, ACC, Big East
You take the team or teams from the highest ranked conference (or ND). If you don't belong to a BCS conference and aren't named ND, you can't play in the BCS title game. The only exception is if you are BYU and you have beaten at least 3 BCS conference teams, and you have 2 fewer loses than the #1 or #2 ranked BCS schools.
The only way we can get into title game is to be undefeated. It is possible to for us to jump an undefeated Pac 10 team, but only if that Pac 10 school is not in California AND we beat and otherwise undefeated Georgia.
