Belichick to UNC?!

This!!!

You know that has to be the most dry conversation in a living room. "so ya wanna sign?"

PS, Belichick was nothing before Brady and nothing after. It was never Bill.... it was QB12

Brady is my GOAT but it's wrong to say it was never Bill and only QB12. They are both all time greats and when two all time greats get together, the result is the historic run of success we saw.

For example, when the Pats shut down the Greatest Show on Turf to win their first Super Bowl, it's ridiculous to think that was due mainly to Brady's 145 passing yards and that Belichick had little to do with it. Or that when the Pats held McNabb to only 21 points to win their third Super Bowl, it was never Bill and all about Brady's 246 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Even towards the end of their time together, when they beat the Rams 13-3 to win their final SB together, you really think that was all about Brady and his 253 passing yards? Belichick wouldn't have had more to do with that?

I'm shocked by this, I always though Belichick wanted back in the NFL quick to break the all time coach wins record, he's 26 behind Shula. Maybe the UNC money is too good, maybe Kraft actually did poison the well with him with the other NFL owners, maybe he see's Andy Reid eventually passing his coach win total as inevitable anyway, or maybe its just about getting as much control in one place as possible...who knows, but I'm not sure he is going to enjoy himself in the college world.

Definitely get that. Bill has always been a better coordinator than coach to me. That probably had more to do with shutting down the GSOT. But I think it's safe to say Bill wouldn't have won 6 in NE without TB. Just my opinion. Without Brady, the NE Dynasty probably wouldn't have happened. He's much better at building teams as a de facto GM to me. When you have people in the right seat it's easy to succeed. Had Blank hired him instead....we'd still suck because Blank is only good at wasting money

I couldn't see him being successful as a College Coach either way.

At first I thought this would essentially lead to a Mack Brown re-run if Bill doesn't want to hit recruiting hard. But the more I think about it, the more he could be ahead of the times. If he's able to provide NFL prospects with a leg up on "NFL prep," in the era of NIL and the portal, that may be a massive draw to elite talent.

I sure hope it's the former...

Why would the NFL prep thing be more important or notable during NIL and free portal than before? If anything wouldn't it of been more of a selling point when you couldn't easily switch to a place that you can be the showcase at?

This has disaster written all over it. Ain’t no way Bill’s methods are effective with 18-22 y/o kids. They were hardly effective with paid professionals who had no choice, but to submit to his directives.

You could be right, but what I'm saying is that if the whole stated purpose of the program is to be a prep school for elite, NFL-bound talent, nobody has more NFL connections than Belichick. He MAY be able to sell them on the whole, "Nobody can get you NFL ready like I can" aspect. And if they start producing NFL talent consistently, then the ability for elite talent to prove themselves elsewhere, get noticed by NFL scouts, and then transfer over to an "NFL factory" may work... if they can also provide competitive NIL money.

He won 11 games with Matt Cassel at QB.
Nobody won 11 games with Matt Cassel at QB.

I'm just waiting for Belichick's press conferences.

"We're on to Wake Forest."
"We're on to Wake Forest."

Andy Reid is already 66.
Wonder how much longer he wants to keep doing this.

Greatest Andy Reid clip ever.

My guess is that Belichick can pull in a bunch of nfl hopefuls at first but long term I don't see his patience lasting with those spoiled kids .

If he keeps winning 10+ games a year with Mahomes he can get it in ~2029…I’m sure having a generational QB and being perpetual winners makes it hard to walk away. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised either way.
