Best start since 1966?

You know whats funny about the 1966 season? We only beat 3 teams that ended with a .500 record. (6-3, 5-4-1, 6-4). Kind of like this season. Easy schedule. But in 1966 we lost to 10-1 georgia and 9-2 florida in the final 2 games.

I can conceivably see our team going 12-0 this season and not playing in the MNC. If we went undefeated two years in row though, we'd be in the MNC next year. So, it's possible to go 32-0 and only win one national title. I could care less about national titles though, and the part that makes me happy is that at least two of those wins would be over those assholes in cesspool.

Yeah... and who was the last team to go undefeated 2 years IAR?

Answer Nebraska 1994 and 1995.

Before that Nebraska 1970 and 1971.

Before that Penn State 1968 and 1969.

Before that Auburn in 1957 and 1958.

Before that OU 1954, 1955 and 1956.

Before that GA Tech 1951 and 1952.

The longest winning streak is 31 (Dodd 51-53). To set that is going to require a NC.
Yes, it would be quite a feat and would take the equivalent of the 6 All Americans that the 1952 team had. Not there yet. Still, PJ has the makings of a good team if the defense can start playing a little bit better and we stay healthy. Depth could end up being problematic with this team.

True, but we beat Tennessee at Grant Field when they came in ranked number 8 in the country. Not to mention, both Clemson and Auburn had fairly good teams that year.

Yea, good team no doubt. Just find it interesting that the schedule was fairly easy, as is ours currently.

Actually that's the longest undefeated streak. Includes some ties in that streak. The longest winning in there was 18 games.

If you go back to Heisman, we had another 18 game winning streak (1916-1918), and an undefeated streak of 33 games (1914-1918).
