Big 10 Invite

Ehhh. I like the old ACC. I liked playing the same teams every year. I'll gladly swap out playing Pitt and Miami for NC St and Wake.
I'd enjoy playing Auburn,Tenn, and Tulane like before we in the ACC.
Why would anyone even care about playing anyone from north of the mason-dixon line or west of the Mississippi?

Having no natural rivals in conference play would get boring pretty quickly, but we wouldn't have to stream bally sports from a janky site that needs spam blockers worse than porn sites. We'd also have substantially more money to work with and probably wouldn't be arguing about assistant $. Do you envy Maryland more now than you did when they were in the ACC? I don't really, but the ACC is the worse conference.

Bud’s response to me:

Mr. GTCrew4b:
Many thanks for your input. The ACC Presidents and Conference Commissioner
have carefully considered all of the options available and we believe have
chosen the best possible route, which will be announced later today.
Independently, I along with a number of others closely associate with our
Athletics program have reviewed the various options available to us
regarding conference affiliation and remain convinced that the ACC is the
best option for Georgia Tech. While I appreciate the important points you
raised, the overriding rationale is our fan base. I just cannot imagine our
fans attending games in Lansing, Iowa City, Bloomington, West Lafayette or
elsewhere on an annual basis.
Again, many thanks for your input and your continued support of Tech!!

this was my email to Bud:

President Peterson,

I have recently heard the news that the ACC presidents and chancellors voted
to allow Louisville to join the Atlantic Coast Conference. I think this
shows that the current leadership of the conference is panicking, and that
the stability of the conference is in jeopardy. My opinion is based on the
facts that this move came swiftly after the unexpected departure of the
University of Maryland, and that the University of Louisville is not so
different from the University of West Virginia who was (to my understanding)
deemed academically unworthy of the ACC. I hope that you lead the Institute
in a direction that would allow it to make a move to a more stable and
academically inclined conference, the Big Ten. Despite the geographical
distance between the member schools, I think the extra revenue and stability
of the Big Ten would solidify Georgia Tech athletics in a home that it can
feel comfortable, and with the resources of Hartsfield Airport just minutes
away, the country is much smaller than it once was. I am certain that there
are several other alumni that feel the same way and that an effort to raise
the exit fee money through alumni donations would be at least partially
successful. Additionally, I think the University of Virginia could be
reached out to as a partner in this proces. Thank you for your time, and
thank you for your efforts in promoting Georgia Tech as a world-renowned
stronghold of research and innovation.

Sincerely,

GTCrew4b

Honestly, I was opposed to joining the Big10 at the time but now wish we had.

There are no programs in the ACC other than Clemson and FSU that anyone cares about.

There's no future in the ACC. 8-0 in the ACC? Who cares? Just ask Wake. Oh, awesome, the best team in the conference is tiny Wake Forest.

I'd enjoy playing Auburn,Tenn, and Tulane like before we in the ACC.
Why would anyone even care about playing anyone from north of the mason-dixon line or west of the Mississippi?
Man. Those were fun years.

And Florida.

If we join the Big 10, will we receive the same overrating that their teams get every year?

Kind of a looser here to bring this up right this second. You are looking for a way out. Everyone knew this changeover was going to be difficult. Am I frustrated, do I analyze our weaknesses, yes. But I would never have this conversation mid-season. To bring it up now, shows how shallow you are as a fan.

I don't know how great it would've been from a fan's perspective, but we sure could use the extra $20 million in revenue from the conference each year.
That ain’t no lie. I guess I can see that GT fans in Columbus, Lansing, etc. could take the place of those of us who drive to Clemson, and the Carolina schools.
