Big 10 Invite

The money is what interests me since the lack of money is hindering our efforts to win. I just want to win.

How many of the teams bolting from one p5 conference to another have experienced a significant uptick in on-field performance? I suppose you can argue A&M, but that's the only one I can think of. The schools that went to the Big 10 for the $$ still suck.

Kind of a looser here to bring this up right this second. You are looking for a way out. Everyone knew this changeover was going to be difficult. Am I frustrated, do I analyze our weaknesses, yes. But I would never have this conversation mid-season. To bring it up now, shows how shallow you are as a fan.
I am looking for a way to finance our program and win games. Why does it matter when I asked the question? For better or worse we have probably missed our opportunity. Our financial situation is an indictment of our administrations and AD's not the current coaches.

I don't think playing Big 10 teams would generate much interest. We should stick to the ACC .
A November trip to Lincoln or Columbus or any other of those schools would be miserable.

Columbus is an awesome town. Plus they have a hockey team. You lie!

A&M has always filled that stadium, even in the lean years.

Big 10 teams fan bases travel extremely well, plus they are represented in all parts of the country. So attendance IMO would go up considerably, although unfortunately possibly not by Tech fans.

Right, but my post was referring to on-field performance. Among the P5 teams that have moved conferences over the last 15 years or so, they're the only ones I can think of that seem to be playing at a higher level since the move. And even then, it's not like they were a cellar dweller in the Big 12.

One Positive about the Big Ten is that they genuinely love their conference and winning it and going to the Rose Bowl (representing the Big Ten) is a very big deal to them. Meanwhile the weak ones down south measure themselves with the SEC. Ridiculous.

We should be trying to beg our way back into the SEC. That’s where we should be playing. The Big 10 is not a geographic fit and the acc is football garbage.
SEC would be great but there is no reason to think they will let us back in. They have already passed on us multiple times.

UGA is the main one voting against us. And it's because they know it would help us be more competitive against them.

Bud’s response to me:

Mr. GTCrew4b:
Many thanks for your input. The ACC Presidents and Conference Commissioner
have carefully considered all of the options available and we believe have
chosen the best possible route, which will be announced later today.
Independently, I along with a number of others closely associate with our
Athletics program have reviewed the various options available to us
regarding conference affiliation and remain convinced that the ACC is the
best option for Georgia Tech. While I appreciate the important points you
raised, the overriding rationale is our fan base. I just cannot imagine our
fans attending games in Lansing, Iowa City, Bloomington, West Lafayette or
elsewhere on an annual basis.
Again, many thanks for your input and your continued support of Tech!!
I didn’t know your name was actually Mr. GTCrew4b. That’s amazing.

Joining the B1G should have been a no brainer. The only cons are geography and historical rivalries. Who gives a öööö? We'd get more money, be in a conference that cares about football, be on a competent network, and GET MORE MONEY.

The ACC is a crap conference and it's the next to fall. We missed a big opportunity.

My gift and my curse. Job interviews are weird at first but they get over it when they see my huge…list of references.

I never saw anything about the Big Ten courting Ga Tech, can you provide a link?
If that were even remotely possible, it would be a joke. We can't beat Northern Illinois or Citadel, but at least we have Duke on the schedule. A nightmare of a schedule. Not quite the SEC, but for Ga Tech we should be looking down for competitiveness, not up. The Southern Conference might take us or a Tulane - Tech annual game would be a tussle.

They took Maryland and Rutgers. They weren’t exactly World beaters but provided additional regional markets and appeal. GT would be right up that alley as would a school like UNC.
